I purchased a rigid cotton buffing wheel, mounted it on this drill arbor and coated the cotton with some honing compound. Everything worked as expected and the edges on the tools that I used for the experiment are super sharp. From the limited use of the tools it also appears that they will be staying sharp a little longer than just using water and/or diamond stones alone. The mandrel worked great and was very easy to set up.
