This is a wound string, for those who are asking. It is very light, so from a distance you can't tell, but when you run your finger on it be prepared for the squeek you get on a guitar string. It is very easy to install, as it is a wound string, so it grips nicely for winding. Overall, it is beautiful quality and produces a nice deep tone. My one complaint is that it's pricey for only a single string. Other 4 string sets are the same price or a couple of bucks more. This one was perfect. BTW, it's really not easy to find the gauge of various strings. The sustain on this string is incredible. It has a very bright sound.
