No need to purchase a separate power supply. **Q: Can it be used to add audio from a mixer to video from a camera and be in sync (audio matches speaker's mouth)?** A: Video cameras are digital, and therefore will do a bunch of processing to the video signal before it exits the camera as SDI or HDMI. Most audio systems are analog, which have NO delay and therefore the analog audio in this case often is "early" in relation to the digital video. The video delay might be just one frame, which is maybe 30 milliseconds, but it may be noticeable in relation to the audio. The Black Magic audio embedder does not have any audio delay options in it - it will INSERT your analog audio source into the digital video stream, but if those two signals are already out of sync this box will not fix it. Is there any possibility for you to run the output of the audio mixer into an XLR input on the video camera? If you could do that, then the combined audio and video exiting the SDI port on camera should be in sync. To recap, this embedder will not CAUSE any sync issues - it adds no delay - but on the same token cannot FIX delay that might already exist in the signals being combined. **Q: Is the included power supply daul voltage (110/220 v)?** A: We're Blackmagic Design Authorized Dealer. It will recognize a lost signal and switch to the backup so maybe if video is not present it sees that as "no signal" and won't output anything. I suggest contacting Blackmagic support directly. I needed this mini converter to convert my analogue audio signal from my studio audio mixer into digital audio through SDI. It's working perfectly. Happy with it so far. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mostly a great product *by D***N on November 2, 2016* This product works well, aside from some of the usual Blackmagic Design quirks.It does do absolutely what it is supposed to do: replace the embedded audio in an SDI video signal. Connect the source video, make the audio connections, then connect the output, and you're good to go. If you need to change which channels are replaced, or switch to AES/EBU instead of analog audio, you flip some DIP switches on the side and you're off to the races.The trouble is that, every once in a while, just like many of BMD's other products, it refuses to work. Perhaps it is weird fluctuations in the power when being turned on (as might be present if turned on with a whole rack of gear), perhaps it's the phase of the moon.. who knows. But every once in a while it requires power cycling to function properly. Not a big deal if you know to check for it, and how to work around it, but it would be nice if we just didn't have to deal with these issues.Ultimately, the product does what it is supposed to do. It does run a little warm, but that isn't the end of the world.
