If I take it to jeep, I’m worried the cost will be excessive.** A: If you have 2 keys already, it is a quick, at home process. If you only have one key, call a local locksmith. I had 2 keys cut and one programmed for my Jeep for $55. Dealership wanted $165 for the key and $75 to program and needed an appointment. Locksmith had it done in 5 minutes. **Q: what frequency are these keys?** A: It's a shell, you take the circuit board from your old key and install on this shell, then have the key cut. **Q: all Jeep keys have to be programed to each Jeep, so how do you get it programed?** A: If you have two working remote head keys already you can program this yourself. Before contacting the seller I went back to the product description and confirmed that this requirement was not mentioned by the vendor. I communicated with them a number of times and it was finally confirmed by them that I would have to pay a locksmith to program it for me. This would cost $100 or more and the Jeep dealer wanted over $250. So I am now stuck with an useless key or I can pay $100 or more. If I wanted to pay that much I would have bought one of the kits where you plug into the cars computer and you can program up to 8 keys your self. I am very disappointed with this vendor and will not do business with them again.
