Exfolimate 2 Piece Face and Body Exfoliation Tool Set

I have been using both exfoliators (face and body) from Exfolimate for about a month and a half now, and I have to say - I'm very pleased with the results! I have worked in the beauty industry for a loooong time, and so I knew when I bought this item that it was not going to be similar to shaving with a razor, nor that it would be similar to getting dermaplaning. It is, however, somewhere in between the two. Ideally, you want to hold the exfoliator so that the edge of the metal "blade" (it is not sharp at all) is at a 90 degree angle to the skin while showering or at least on damp skin. You can use it before or after applying soap/cleanser. I like to soap up first, then use the exfoliator, rinse off, and then use a light scrub or loofah...because I'm a bit of a perfectionist and OCD when it comes to getting clean. The first time I used the products, I had to be super gentle with the face exfoliator because I had quite a breakout (adult acne) going on - but I noticed afterwards that my skin was slightly smoother and seemed to absorb my serums and moisturizers better. I shower daily and use both exfoliators daily, and what I will say is this: if you are using a motorized facial and/or body cleansing brush, such as the Clarisonic daily, you can get away with using the Exfolimate exfoliators every other day. I use them everyday, with my Clarisonic. After the first week of consistent use is when I really noticed a huge difference in the softness and 'radiance' of my skin. These exfoliators are amazing! My skin is super soft, breakouts on my face are way less frequent, my moisturizers and serums absorb quicker which means I can use less, and the hair follicles/pores on my legs and my face have diminished! I love these exfoliators! (I just wish they were a tad less expensive...)

I had pretty high expectations for this product, based on a few articles and reviews I had read. While this product didn't turn out to be a miracle, it still serves its purpose well. I find it doesn't make much of a difference on most of my body, except my face and feet. I love using is instead of a pumice stone (honestly it works way better), and my rough feet were drastically softer after a couple days. My face also seems a little less dull after I use it, but its important to be gentle or you'll just hurt your skin. I learned that the hard way (;

Okay. I wanted a Le Edge, I didn't want to pay for a Le Edge, and this was worth every penny. I read about the strigil thing a few months ago during my regular google for "keratosis pilaris treatment". I couldn't bring myself to buy an $80 strigil, so I used a credit card for a while, which achieved the same function. But, after a while, the top layer of the card started to pull away and my gross dead skin cells were getting stuck in between the layers, which was appalling. So, I threw away the card and bought the Exfolimate instead. (With that said: if you're trying to determine if you would even like/benefit from this product, using the long edge of a credit card will help you decided if you want an Exfolimate. The card will get gross quickly, though, and this won't.) So, I use this about once a week. I take a hot shower (unusual for me) then turn the water off and rub jojoba oil onto my wet skin. (No reason you couldn't use another oil, but I don't think soap or body wash would work.) I let it sit for 1-2 minutes, then take the exfolimate to it, much the way that I would shave my legs: starting at the ankle, against the growth of hair. I almost always use this the day before I use my epilator. The Exfolimate blade gets pretty good and coated in gross greyish dead skin, which is bizarely satisfying to me and I kind of love it. I use this on pretty much my whole body but take particular pleasure in my shoulders and shoulder blades, which produce an unexpected lot of dead skin (??!). I can't say yet whether or not this works for my KP because my KP pretty much disappears in the summer. But, my hope is that the discoloration on the backs of my arms will disappear with regular use in the winter and spring. (Apparently the device scrapes away the skin cells/keratin that would otherwise trap the hair in the follicle. This didn’t do anything. And I love a good exfoliation but this was garbage.

I admit it, I am addicted to exfoliating and even use a machine once a week that delivers at-home Microdermabrasion results. I still do a mild exfoliating treatment every couple of days to keep everything smooth and dead skin cells at bay. Being that I prefer no chemicals like using an acid based peel, I am always hunting for devices that may deliver the same or better results. In comes Exfolimate with a simple scraper system. It gently removes dead skin cells in a more gentle manner, not requiring any acid based peels or rotating discs. The simplicity continues when it comes to use. You have a larger size remover that is for the body and the smaller is for the face. The handle is made out of a plastic, while the part that makes contact with your skin is made from metal. The idea is to run the Exfolimate over your skin to aid with the removal of dead skin cells and any debris (i.e. clogged pores), leaving you with a smoother looking and feeling surface. Retail Price Point: $29.99 via Amazon and with Amazon Prime membership, the Exfolimate ships for free. Each Kit includes (1) Face Exfolimate and (1) Body Exfolimate Verdict: The Exfolimate system is easy to use and will always be a better option that using your nails or a wash cloth as an exfoliating method. I found the handle and size to be ergonomic and easy to hold in use. No discs to worry about changing, chemicals that may cause irritation and/or redness. The Exfolimate can also be sanitized by using alcohol after each use to avoid any bacteria from building up. I used the system in between my Microdermabrasion treatments (usually 3 days after) to keep my skin feeling smooth, so think of it as a "touching-up" method. Th Exfolimate glided easily and was painless both in use and how it performed. I still prefer a scrub over the Exfolimate and this is because a scrub can be purchased with anti-aging or acne treating properties. I still have to wash my face, so I see using a scrub as a multi-tasker versus the Exfolimate being a one use only tool. The other stickler was the price point. I just do not see paying $30 for what pretty much breaks down to being a scraper for your skin. I get the functionality but again, this is a piece of plastic and a thin metal strip. Now, I did find the body tool more useful as I find it a waste to use a scrub intended for my face on my body. I usually purchase sugar based scrubs for body exfoliating, but I can see using the tool more on my legs and especially when some shaving creams/gels tend to leave an undesired residue behind. I can see wanting a Exfolimate for the body but again, I just can't see the price versus results here. It was one of those things where the item did not hurt me but also did not help me (kind of thing). I received the above product(s) free of charge from Exfolimate. This actually works! I have always struggled with deep blackheads and getting them cleared is always very traumatizing to the skin, this is so much better and works so well especially in the shower. My suggestion is run a hot shower and soak for a few minutes before trying it as it helps to loosen the pores and makes clearing skin a breeze! highly recommend.

I did notice that some reviews mentioned that this tool does not work and I’d like to explain how to use it well so that it does work for you. In ancient Greece, people used a similar scraping tool to clean their bodies. They first applied oil to the skin, then scraped it off. We know that oil breaks down our body oil and helps to remove dirt. It also softens dead skin and lubricates the surface. I recommend first soaking in the tub, then rubbing your body with oil before using this exfoliation tool. Be prepared to clean your tub after! You’ll be shocked how much gunk you’ll remove!

I was so excited to get these if they don't do what I thought they would do I took them to the sauna with me to be able to remove remove any dead skin or calluses. All they did was scrape off my sweat. I'm not exactly happy.I would return them, but I already threw the box away

I bought this because a previous buyer said it helped with her keratosis pilaris. After 1 use I noticed a huge improvement! I have been looking for a solution to my bumpy dry skin on my arms for 30 years and have tried countless lotions but this is the first thing to ever make a difference. I find it works best if you apply a little coconut oil first. Amazed at how such a simple tool can work so well! Also used on other dry areas that the loffah and dry brush never helped and it worked wonders! Definitly recommend! Update sept 2018. Still works awesome using once a week.

This did not do any exfoliating. You're better off using a dry brush or a body scrub. Even a wet washcloth does a better job.
