When you don't have to peel and chop them and deal with the stink/tears, but still get the sweet, tasty, oniony flavour in your food. That's what this product gives you. All you have to do is scoop up good amount from the bag, throw it in your stew/soup/frying pan and cook as normal and you end up with a very pleasant oniony component to your meal with ZERO effort!
