    An awesome sequel!

Review: 5 out of 5 starsImmortals is a book I have been really eager to read; I was a big fan of Runes and the world and characters Ednah Walters had created so I was keen to see how it would all progress, especially after the ending we were left with. After the events of the first book, Raine's life is in turmoil, her peers think she is a witch, Torin doesn't remember her thanks to the Norns removing his memories of her - her punishment for defying them and her best-friend is acting really odd so she has a lot of work to do to make things right and to understand what is happening around her.Valkyrie Torin St James is Raine's smexy next door neighbour and also the person we saw her come to be quite close to in the first book but he no longer remembers who she is despite her knowing tid-bits no one else could have told her about his life, he is confused and infuriating. Our main characters are written beautifully; Raine is a wonderful character who I came to admire, she wasn't without her faults but she was compassionate and showed her determination and protective side when it came to those she cared about, she went through immense emotional growth throughout this book. Torin is still completely infuriating but such a sweetheart! I love them individually but put them together and the chemistry is amazing. The romance has progressed at a believable pace which I quite liked. We come to find out the importance of not only Raine's role with the Valkyrie's but also Eirik's which I found to be quite interesting, the Norn's have told her she needs to protect him so throughout the course of the book Raine trains to learn more about her heritage and details of their purpose was slowly revealed as was a surprise villain who was causing a bit of behind the scenes drama; I found the Norse mythology truly fascinating and to be written extremely well. The plot was evenly paced and with a few unexpected twists and turns thrown in, it put a real spin on what I thought was actually going to happen, I liked the element of surprise. The secondary characters are awesome, Eirik is a sweetheart but we see a different side to him in this book, Cora is the supportive friend every girl needs to have but she turned out to be quite the surprise and I adored the parental presence and the love and support they showed to not only Raine but also Eirik. I also came to like Andris in this book, we also meet powerful Valkyrie Lavania who at times I didn't know whether could be trusted or not.I adore Ednah Walter's writing style; the banter between the characters is entertaining and filled with snark and humour which I loved. We get the perfect balance of romance, action and suspense that kept me wanting more, I was so bummed when real-life interfered with my reading time because I didn't want to put this book down, every spare moment my nose would be glued to the pages.Overall, a fabulous, kick-butt sequel! Amazing action sequences, norse mythology written extremely well and the best kind of romance and friendships. Ednah Walters is an auto-buy author for me; her story-telling is fabulous.I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Fantastic conclusion of series, go read Grimrirs for more!

I loved this one as much as I did the first one even I think. I was so interested how will Raine struggle with Torin's no memories of her, and how will she make him fall in love with her again. I thought I would be disappointed, but no, it was so worth my time and money, and I actually wanted to strangle my mom, who took my tablet away so I couldn't read the book. That seriously killed me. But fortunately I just finished it ( mom's in the shower xD ) and now have time to write the review.First of all, Raine's dad coming back, Eirik slowly turning evil, Torin being an ass with his memory loss, Andris being a good friend, Cora being an idiot, Lavania being arrogant, and so on made the book so interesting, and so read of the month so far. I loved how Raine tried to seduce Torin, that was a lot of fun. I hated Eirik being a douche again, but, unlike the previous book, here I supported him totally. I like Torin struggling with his whole: I'm-a-good- faithful-Valkyrie-and-I-am-not-breaking-rules-for-a-mortal attitude. Sorry for such a long word, but that was really it.I loved Raine, because she is a faithful friend, she would even suspect her boyfriend aka Torin but not Cora, and that's a good feature, even though it nearly destroyed her and her family, still, it is a feature we all should have. I wanted seriously to slap Torin, when he tells Raine: "after the game I kissed Kicker, then Amber.... but I didn't feel anything, I needed this". Really Torin, way to say that to a girl you just kissed. And now discussing the villain of this particular book Maniila aka fake Cora, aka Cora who was with us during the whole book. I hated Maniila in the first book, actually I didn't because I didn't get to know her very well, and I still didn't get to know her well in this book too. Only that she is one self-conscious bitch, but that was writen black on white in the book, nothing more. And while every my frind finds it idiotic, but I sometimes sympathise to villains, I know it's stupid sometimes, but I do think that they have much more interesting stories, and they the choices they make to become villains. And here I was disappointed not to have at least a background story why Maliina did all of that, the word Jealousy doesn't cover it all, there had to be something else too, or I am just too into knowing villains better.I recommend this book to everybody, because it really is easy to read, and interesting, and I actually didn't tell you all secrets, or I hope I didn't. And I am actually already waiting for the third or 2.5 book called Grimnirs. So, Happy Reading! :)) hope you like it, and don't forget to tell me what you think.

    Book 2 Runes Series

*by R***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 27, 2015*

Immortals is the second book in the Runes series of YA paranormal fantasy. I really enjoyed book 1 and was keen to download book 2 at once to continue reading the story.Raine Cooper is seventeen and found that she has the hottest guy ever living next door. Torin St. James is drop dead gorgeous and it's him she thinks about all day. The trouble is she's currently dating life-long friend Eirik Seville, and her life has been turned upside down by paranormal beings that are linked to Norse mythology. In book 2, Torin's memory has been tampered with and he cannot remember the past few months and his feelings for Raine. She must now begin her Rune training, but the three Fates known as Norns have not finished with her yet. They try to lure her to their side whilst telling her she must protect Eirik as his life is in danger. In this book we learn that there is more to Eirik than just a normal mortal being and Raine struggles to know who she can trust as she faces challenges from many sides, even best friend Cora is acting strange just when she needs her.I enjoyed the build up of the storyline and the introduction of new layers to the tale. The edition I had contained a dozen or so minor typos which were a little disappointing and took the edge off this entertaining read.
