The characters were interesting. The situation was unusual, but that makes it intriguing because things like that do happen. Ignite is definitely a solid debut by a wonderful author, and from here on one can only expect greater to come.The best part about the story was getting to know Lauren, and seeing how she coped with being thrown into a position where she had to take care of her father's stepchildren. I mean, she didn't even have a relationship with their mother so I was really nervous for her. But as the story progressed I developed a sense of the kind of person Lauren was. She has a good heart, she gets flustered and confused, unsure of herself and what her next step should be, and even though she's been through a lot herself (being neglected by her mother and losing her father), she made the decision to set aside her own issues to help these kids. I liked how clumsy and flawed she was. That's rare to find in books.Lauren's attraction to Dean was only natural, since they had met before and he was a swoon worthy guy. Not to mention they had an invisible bond between them that stemmed from a shared sense of loss and pain. So of course their relationship would bloom in such a fast and intense way, and I enjoyed the angst and longing on both sides. I look forward to getting to know a lot more about Dean in the follow-up, Arclight.I don't know how to express my thoughts on Ignite without spoiling this book, really. I found several scenes funny, emotional, and relatable. The characters were all interesting in their own way, especially the kids. Emma was cute, and I liked the twist towards the end (though I suspected it more). Everyone worked out nicely. It's a good story that's nothing like a lot of the borderline erotic NA's that are being released, so don't steer away from this one because of the genre it falls in. It's something anyone can read and enjoy and I do recommend you give Ignite a try. Can't wait for the sequel. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ hard to review ... *by 1***H on Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2014* There're a lot more thing in this book.Actually I'd thought it was just another creepy love story young adult fiction what I'd read first part of it.Handsome boy, actually early twenties, and family complexed girl... Creepy things, that's what I first thought, because there're many books make the characters' complexed as the excuses or make it as distopia metaphors.But end up as loving how Dean get their relation through all the things there, although it' quite surreal on human beings' perspective as Josher's character was as well. I love how he care L. Oh.. I hated the using of L. words or G. words thing.. I'm too old and conservative on that way. And I was somehow horrified if there's anything bad happen to dean and break L. heart hard. I thought I can related to her lost. Pain and isolation complex well though.But I really really love how Dean care. I can't express how I love it. I think everyone has their own weak moment, and there's sometime they really need someone to run to. And that one can melt their wall down to let his love go through the melting wall, envelop them and heal all those pains and sorrows, then bring back their strength and softly kindness back to their heart. With it's wide variety of diverse characters there is definitely someone for everyone to fall in love with and relate to which makes is a wonderful and enjoyable read.It's a simple yet exciting novel that definitely leaves you appreciating life a little more as well as swooning over a certain male lead that will steal your heart from chapter one.Author Lily Paradis creates a world which although seems tough and difficult to live in is also mind blowing and amazing, filled with adventure, love, family, loss, tragedy and all the other good things one could imagine.There is just so much good to say!The chemistry within the book is great! It never feels over powering or rushed nor slow and boring. There always seems to be just enough of it to keep you going and waiting for more.The relationships that are built within the story stay strong and the characters stay true to themselves, which always makes reading pleasant and exciting.Everything in Ignite made me feel...I don't even know how to describe it...Ignited?I felt energised after reading this book.
