Quite small but I knew that when I bought them. You definitely need the extension lead. In fact I probably need to buy another one as my electrical source is quite a way from where lights are needed. The first bulb is very close to the plug which seems to be the case with all garden lights I’ve seen. You can add further sets of lights too which is useful. Unfortunately since buying them we haven't been able to put them up because of the weather! But they seem to have thought of everything. There's two spare bulbs in the set, and an extension cord in case your socket is too far from the lights. The lights are nice and warm white. You can also daisy chain these up to 4 sets in a chain using the weather proof connections provided. And because these are mains voltage you could replace the bulbs with LEDs if you wanted to save energy.
