Up to two auxiliary speakers can be wired to the main iChime unit. It is in the same housing as the iChime itself, but with the electronics removed. No batteries required. Review: Great replacement chime. - Pretty neat device. Has a lot of neat pre recorded sounds. Easy to install & setup. Highly recommend. I also got the add on speaker for extra sound. Really didn't need it , but wanted to add another device kind of like a backup sound source. I installed it next to the chime device. If installing away from the powered chime device wires need to be run through the wall. I didn't want to go through that trouble. You can record your own sounds. Takes a little practice to get the correct sound. Best to keep the sound source a little low, the turn the volume up on the chime itself. Works well. Review: Poor service - Product does not work. When I set a default tone it plays it once then goes back to rotating through all of them in sequence. I have reached out to http://www.ichime.com/contact/ and had no reply after over a week. I will try calling them tomorrow. Meanwhile I am very unhappy with this product. On the plus side - it is plenty loud. I purchased the extra speaker - that was a waste - it must be hard wired.
