If you love patchwork this is definitely a book for you! I first became familiar with Heidi’s work on Instagram @fabricmutt. All her makes are so fresh and original. I couldn’t wait for the release of her new book and it doesn’t disappoint!The author literally takes you on a sewing adventure without having to leave the comfort of your home. Her book is a suitcase packed with inspiration and fun projects for all sewing skill levels. The book is beautifully designed and illustrated. Like most quilting books she starts her sewing journey noting tools that you’ll need for the ride to avoid any bumps in the road! Before moving onto her 24 lovely projects she explains and gives many wonderful examples of how she chooses her fabrics. This in my opinion is one of Heidi’s greatest gifts as a sewist is her natural ability to mix and match prints! For me this section was most helpful and enlightening! Also, I love how she organizes her projects starting with quick makes you can do in a weekend to longer more involved projects. Her instructions and illustrations are very clear and concise!Towards the end of the road, so to speak, she gives ideas of how to personalize and share your sewing journey projects with others for gifting at retreats, swaps, parties and such! Of course, no road trip would be complete without some goodies and a playlist to take along for the ride which, Heidi, of course, includes!
