It detects wake up periods with deadly accuracy and identifies REM and Deep sleep also with keen accuracy. The app is fun to use and has even more information that wasn't even advertised involving brain rest and body rest! If you want a very accurate product that is easy and fun to use -- that will help in your struggle with Mr. Insomnia -- I recommend this product very highly. ### ⭐⭐⭐ LOTS & LOTS of room for Improvement *by G***R on May 13, 2019* Obviously the motivation for buying this is ultimately to improve the quality of sleep by getting a better understanding of what is going on with your sleep & what impacts it. For me this has been an epic fail! All I have learned is that when I wake up with a feeling of dense fog & pressure in my head it's because I didn't get near enough REM sleep which happens nearly every night. When I wake up feeling more physically tired it's because I didn't get enough deep sleep. So I have some validation & a tiny bit of insight but nothing to enable me to actually improve my sleep.What's sad & frustrating is that it would be so easy for them to improve the software so that it actually helped you achieve better sleep. In the very beginning it ask a bunch of lifestyle questions. I remember answering questions about smoking, drinking, caffeine intake etc. I'm LDS (Mormon) so I don't consume any of those things yet in spite of indicating that in the beginning I am asked about them again every night. Since those are not applicable to me why not replace those questions with ones about things that potentially impact my sleep like how heavy was my last meal. How many hours before sleep did I eat a heavy meal. What did I eat. Did I eat a snack before bed. If so, what & how much. Did I nap today. etc. That's another frustration.....Why can't I track & record my naps? On Sunday & other rare occasions I take a long (2 - 4 hour) nap. Do I get any deep sleep when I nap? Do I get any REM sleep when I nap? I wish I knew. How does the frequency, duration & timing of naps impact the quality of my sleep at night? I wish I knew.I seriously question how accurately it tracks my sleep. I get up to pee every night & fairly often am out of bed for 15 - 30 minutes but only rarely does it record "out of bed." That makes me wonder how accurately it records every other aspect of my sleep. There are many times when it shows that I was in light sleep when the reality is that I was wide awake but laying still desperately trying to sleep.I think they need to change the way the "sleep score" is calculated. I typically get a score in the 80s or low 90s but quite often get inadequate deep sleep & NEVER get enough REM sleep which is why I wake up feeling TERRIBLE! How is it then that I get such a high score?I wonder if the bio-motion sensors are actually interfering with REM sleep since the symptoms I describe have actually gotten worse since using the SleepScore Max.I sincerely hope the folks at SleepScore Labs will recognize the shortcomings of their software & work to improve it. Without those improvements this is little more than a novelty item. With the needed improvements it could be a MUCH more useful tool to aid in achieving better quality sleep.As a side note: the app worked flawlessly in the beginning but after the last Android update it crashes about half the time. It breaks down my sleep patterns throughout the night and hellos me figure if there might be something I can do to improve my sleep quality.There is a lot of overall data provided, but there is nothing that provides immediate feedback on the numbers you receive.
