Before I bought DermaSeptic, the only thing that worked for me was attacking the tingle with Abreva, and that doesn't always work, but I never leave home without Abreva in my purse. After recovering from my worst outbreak ever, I took the plunge and bought DermaSeptic, but obviously couldn't use it on the current outbreak. So it sat in my purse for a month until the next tingle was felt. When I tried to use it the first time, the light didn't flash and I was confused because I followed the directions. Then I realized that the battery was dead. That was a bummer because in the time that it took me to realize this and drive to the store to buy a new battery, replace it and then finally use it, the sores started to form. Then I attacked the tingling area with DermaSeptic for at least 5 minutes and then again a few hours later. By the evening of that day, the sores stopped enlarging and never really broke open. I treated them again and again and by the next day, the sores subsided. I've used this again about a month later and again it seemed to work. But keep in mind that I still use Abreva, as well.
