They certainly do the job as compression stockings without looking "medical." They are well made and stay up even with long days on one's feet or fast-paced walking. I will be wearing these when flying. I was also hoping to wear them at other times, but after a while of hard walking, the tightness around the toes can become painful. If you have diabetic neuropathy, wear with caution.UPDATE: Wore these flying for a near 3 hour flight, one way, and had no swelling in my feet, calves, or ankles; no cramping or leg pain. But, sadly after a coupla wearings, they felt all stretched out-leaving them like regular nylons...and they 'ran' like reg nylons, as the 1st pr I put on, snagged on my toenail.
