    So happy with my choice!

*by N***Q on Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2016*

Best headphones I have experienced in the sub $200 range. I am sure that these have the attention of bassheads and these will deliver strong bass while still keeping it tight and controlled. I have owned headphones with stronger bass but it was very unclean. These are fairly crisp and doesn't drown out treble.Fit: These have big cups that surround your ears. Pleather pads surround your ears and rest on your head and are very soft. It is quite sealed so you might encounter some warm ears during long sessions. I have a larger head (wear 7 7/8 hats) and the clamping force is about perfect. Its a little firm but I like that, it's firm enough that it keeps the sound out and allows me to listen in privacy.Sound: Treble is defined but not harsh. Mids are light but noticeable. Lows are clean. The adjustable bass range takes it from super bassy to almost non-existent. Bass almost seems constricted at the lower settings though so opening them up and letting the bass bump away is the way to go. The different settings don't change the treble much if at all. These headphones work just fine without an amp but feeding them some extra power takes performance to the next level by adding extra punch to the high end and a bit more bass. Mids are a weakness of this headphone but I don't mind that. I bought it for the high and lows. Soundstage is good on these too! If you don't know what I mean by soundstage it will be an experience you will enjoy. It adds some depth to the area where it feels the music is coming from. Almost like surround sound but without that concert hall effect.Build: Very good build. The frame is all metal with good flex in all directions. Earpads are replaceable by prying them off and the pleather headband cover is also removable. Adjusting the height works better when the headphones are off. The plugs are definitely larger than those that are on ear buds but compared to other headphones they are average. If you have a huge case on your phone, you might have some issues since the plug on the main cable is threaded for the larger 1/4" jack adapter. Personally, I have had no issues.Accessories: This setup comes with 2 removable cables one of them has a mic\controls on it both are good quality and are about what you would expect from this price range. The cable without the mic/control has the adapter to fit your professional equipment. The replaceable faceplates are fun! It comes with the two factory style Beyerdynamic plates you see in the pictures that are metal and then 8 pairs of different cardboard plates that are double-sided with similar prints on each side. The plates are held in with a plastic ring that is secured with 4 allen-style screws that can be removed with the included tool or correct size allen wrench.Value: Great value! You get a lot for the money and with the adjustable bass it is like having a couple headphones in one. Even though the covers are pleather it is good quality and I don't see it cracking or falling apart anytime soon. Even if it does there are plenty of color options available and even velour for the ear pads.

Couldnt ask for a better set

*by R***Y on Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2019*

I have had my set for almost 4 years now, and I still love them to death.Pros:They are super durable, have awesome bass, and are the most comfortable pair of headphones that I have (and I own the Sony WH-xb900Ns, and the Beyer's are much more comfortable). While yes, they are a bit bulky and look pretty big, they certainly still retain their comfort. I can wear these things all day and still not notice that they are on my head. And with them being large/bulky, they are super tough! I have thrown these things across the room, really abused them, and they still hold up after 4 years. They also have a removable headphone jack, so in case you bend your cable the wrong way, you can always just unplug it and replace the cord (without having to replace the whole headset).Cons:The only downsides that I would mention, is that the ear cups/head band frays after extended use (say around 1 year), and it can get really messy, but you can always just replace them (hence the "custom" part of their name). I also would've liked a volume control option on the cable, but at least it has a pause/play button/mic on it.Conclusion:If you are looking for a good set of wired, customizable headphones that produce some pretty good bass and don't break the bank, these are great for you!

Bass is great, sound is clear, treble slightly softened (but can be fixed)

*by K***H on Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2016*

This is a great choice if you're looking for a clear-sounding, bass-focused headphone; but also a very comfortable fit. Though other headphones may have better definition, the sound is still good, albeit with recessed mids and rolled-off highs.SoundThe over all sound is clear, without any muddiness. If you like strong bass, these headphones definitely have it - and it's adjustable. There is a slider on each earcup which exposes several holes. As the slider exposes more holes to open air, the bass response increases. There are 4 settings. The first setting keeps the bass to a minimum. I find that setting #3 is the sweet spot - it's strong, and it works well for most music. Setting #4 is a bit overboard, but I can see it might be good for certain EDM songs. The bass itself is generally a bit loose, and not tight. The mids are recessed, and the treble is not quite as crisp as competing products. The clarity is there, but compared to other headphones in the same price range, the Custom One Pro does not deliver the same treble definition as say the Beyerdynamic DT 770, or the Audio Technica M50x. So if you like that crisp, extended treble, you will want to look at other headphones. The soundstage is good, but not spectacular and open like Beyerdynamic's DT770. However, what has surprised me is that I have grown to like the sound of these headphones quite a lot. Although I have other, more expensive headphones with more definition in the higher frequencies, for some reason, the Custom One Pro sounds really good to me. In some ways other headphones with extended treble sometimes sounds "artificial" by comparison. The Custom One Pro sounds somewhat more "natural" - if you can say that for a headphone that boosts its bass response. It sounds really good when listening to classic rock for example. But when listening to EDM, I did miss that extended treble a little.Changing the Pads = more "sparkle" in the trebleThe earpads are very comfortable, but eventually they began to peel-away, and expose the ugly foam underneath (more on this later). So I decided to replace them with the pads that came with my DT770. Immediately, I noticed that the sound actually changed a bit. The treble seemed more defined, and not so rolled-off. I also noticed that the bass was a bit less impactful - but this isn't an issue. (All I had to do was increase the bass setting - I was on setting #3 before, so I switched it to setting #4 to compensate.) The treble was now more emphasized than before. Though my DT770s still outclassed it in terms of treble, the Custom One Pros now sounded a lot better when listening to EDM.Burn inWhen I first tried on Custom One Pro I found that the treble was so flat that I was really disappointed. However, after doing an extensive burn-in period of about 48 hours, the sound has definitely improved. Though it's not as extended or crisp as other headphones, the treble is now what I would call clear and pleasant. The bass and mids have also improved, but not as noticeable as the improvement of treble. As for the burn-in proceedure, I simply connected the headphone to my iPad overnight several times during the week. I played music and free burn-in tracks that I downloaded over the Internet all-night.Comfort:This is one of the most comfortable pair of headphones you can buy. The pads rest around your ears, and not on them. This alleviates physical pressure on your ears directly, and therefore causes minimal fatigue. I've had these headphones on for hours without any sort of comfort issues. By contrast, my other bass-focused headphone, the AKG K181 rests on my ears directly - and after a few hours of use, my ears can get sore. The clamping force is not too bad - though it will be somewhat firm in the beginning.CustomizationThe Custom One Pro, as you can imagine not only allows you to customize the sound (via bass settings), but it also allows you to customize its looks. Almost everything about the headphone can be replaced. This particular version (the Custom One Plus) comes with 16 "covers" that can replace the default covering on the Headphone speakers' housing. (Theres a different design on each side of a cover - so technically there are 32 designs.) Personally, I didn't find the additional covers to be too attractive, but you can buy more "premium" looking covers as well (though they aren't cheap). What I do like is that the headphone cable is replaceable. This means if you're cable ever gets damaged, you can simply replace it instead of the whole headphone itself. (Most quality replacement cables cost only $20.) The pads are also replaceable. I've seen velour pads made for this headphone which look quite good - though I've never bought them myself. (The Custom One Pro uses the same size and type of pads as Beyerdyanic's other headphones such as the DT770).Build QualityThe Custom One Pro is mostly well-built. The two plastic earcups are held in-place by a black-painted metal frame. The earcups adjust without any issues and feel sturdy. The headband is covered in a very soft leather-like material. Unfortunately, after about 6 months of use the earpads began to peel away from their internal stitching - exposing the foam on the inside of the earcups. However, the earpads themselves can be replaced. The pads that fit other Beyerdynamic headphones will usually fit the Custom One Pro. In fact I have installed the leather pads that came with the DT770 onto my pair of Custom One Pros - and they work great, and are just as comfortable.ConclusionFor me, the combination of the clear, bass-emphasized sound; and a comfortable fit is what I was after. I can wear this headphone all day long without much fatigue. The highs are definitely a little laid back, but they are still clear, and sound great with classic rock. What's more, you can change the pads to get that back a little of the treble to compensate. These are a great set of cans for the money - and the adjustable bass is nice feature.
