## Overview

The Dorman 929-301 Rear Leaf Spring is a direct-fit replacement designed specifically for select Jeep Cherokee and Wagoneer models from 1984-2001. Built with durable materials and pre-installed bushings, it restores suspension performance, supports a mild lift of over 2 inches, and ensures a comfortable, clunk-free ride. Backed by a trusted American manufacturer, this leaf spring is your go-to solution for worn, damaged, or corroded rear suspension components.

## Description

Properly functioning leaf springs hold the weight and payload of a vehicle or trailer and are essential to suspension performance and passenger comfort. Check the product attributes to select the right leaf spring for your application. This part is compatible with the following vehicles. Before purchasing, enter your vehicle trim in the garage tool to confirm fitment. [Jeep Cherokee: 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001] - [Jeep Wagoneer: 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990].

Review: Great price, fit like original, come with bushings -- be cautious of the front eye bolt. - IMPORTANT: This is not a difficult job, just unbolt and replace --- however, if you intend to change these in your backyard with a 3/8 drive socket set and some jack stands you are probably setting yourself up for a very bad time. After 20 years in the rust belt none this stuff wants to turn without some advanced tools and methods. Of special concern is the front eye bolt: 1) The nut is welded to the inside of the frame with no access. If you break the bolt or strip the nut now the fun begins. 2) The eye bushing sleeve rusts to the bolt, see item 1) above for the consequences. I cut the old spring eye and bushing outer sleeve off, then cut away the bushing (a Rockwell Sonicrafter, zoomed through the rubber in seconds) and then used an air chisel to peel the sleeve away from the bolt. With all that gone then i could use the torch to heat the nut. So don't even think about reusing that bolt once you get it out, replace it! Springs are heavy, shipping is expensive. With free shipping these are an unbeatable deal. The box was destroyed, turns out a cardboard box with a wad or two of packing paper was no match for 2 leaf springs, they would have been better off to tape them together and put the label right on the springs -- no matter, springs are tough and arrived undamaged. These came with the bushings front and rear which was a plus. I also purchased new shackles, u-bolts and front bolts and recommend you do the same. Lifted the back of the Jeep more than 3" at the wheel arch and got rid of all that clunking and creaking, in addition to the old springs being flat both of the front spring eyes were broken. Great deal, just assess your resources before you begin.
Review: Very nice quality springs - I installed these on my Cherokee. The quality looks very good. The paint on the springs looks pretty good, but I still put on another coat of paint for extra measure. The bushings come installed, and I can't speak to the quality of the rubber, but they fit the car fine. One does squeak a bit now, but it's an old cherokee and you can't hear the squeaks at any road speed above 5mph. (It could also be one of the new shackle bushings) These springs appear to be of the "Up Country" specs because I got at least a 2 inch lift over my stock, worn out springs. They've been on for a month and it only settled less than a half inch or so. It sits higher than it ever did; it looks like it has a mild lift. (I'm tempted to put in a 1 inch spacer lift on the front.) The ride is very comfy, not harsh or stiff at all. I'm very pleased with these amazing springs. As a side note, I had the common problem of having the original bushings frozen to the bolts. Instead of the brute force method of cutting the bolts, I did the brute force removal of the springs by cutting the spring eyes in two, then slicing the bushing shell with a cut off grinder, then cutting the rubber off, then heating and opening up the split bushing tube (they are split tubes; easy to remove at this point). It can be done, and then you can re-use your bolts, and not have to drill and tap the threaded holes in the body. More work but less hacking of the unibody. UPDATE: 6 months later and I can say the springs have not sagged after the first couple weeks. I ended up putting in a 3/4 inch spacer lift in the front coils (very easy job) and now the Cherokee sits level. Very happy.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does these leaf springs come with the bushings installed?**
A: Yes they do. Nice springs.

**Q: Are bolts included? Doesn't appear to be and I don't see them for sale here. Any info is appreciated**
A: Apologies for the dayed response. No bolts included! I bought the U-bolts separate, those were not included. And i did get new rearward spring shackles (Dorman) which came with new bolts and bushings. $55 seemed a little pricey, but when I seen what I got, it was well worth it. I had to re-use the the most forward springs bolts (just under the rear doors) also. Hope the info hits ya in time and helps.

**Q: Why is the installation manual provided in the listing, for flooring planks rather than springs?**
A: Human error. Dorman did not supply an installation guide though it would appear that Amazon tried. Still, replacement is fairly straight forward (once you get the old spring off). A service manual will probably help if you need it.

**Q: I was wondering how many inches are these leaf springs lift**
A: As others have replied, no lift over original factory springs. My 1998 had 16 years of fatigue so they had flattened out about 3", and could not handle a load. The new springs will look and feel like a lift kit was installed.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ... giving these 5 stars for what they are - good quality for the price
*by S***K on January 14, 2017*

I'm giving these 5 stars for what they are - good quality for the price! You CAN get higher end springs, but if you just want normal stock height and a good value, these are a top choice for sure. Direct fit. Have a 2001 XJ and its old stock springs were about as low as they get. Bought these, the Dorman shackles, u-bolts, and front eyelet bolts - everything new except the mounting plate. Everything was a direct fit and great value. I have not had them on long, but it sounds like they retain their height after settling just a bit from being brand new. The ride is solid and comfortable, but not what I'd call stiff at all, and I haven't heard any squeaking so far. Also, my Jeep feels like.... a Jeep again! Stoked. Very happy with the quality vs price - I specifically avoided the Crown equivalent because too many folks said they flatten out quickly. There are also not a ton of choices that aren't for a lift, otherwise I might have gone with Old Man Emu. My front end was actually right around stock height of 17.5" from center of wheel to bottom of flares, and is now closer to 18 with the new rear suspension relieving some of the strain on the front. The rear was about 2" low and is now around an inch high, for a total gain of about 3", but they should settle a little bit over time. To echo other reviews, these are NOT for a lift, they just return to brand-new stock height, or possibly a little more for a while. My ride wasn't actually too bad before (my shocks were good at least) but is that much better now, and it also looks a lot nicer.
