Waste of time and money.
The fluids from the small test tube you are supposed to mix into the larger one won't come out. A Chemistry A'level student tried and failed.

Fairly straight-forward to use if you are careful and follow the instructions methodically. The kit contains instructions for testing both liquids and solids. It is a bit fiddly to agitate the solution without getting the test strip wet (it detects gas given off by the solution and so must be kept dry).

Worked fine for me
I used this test after having used the Osumex general test on my saliva which gave a strong result for dental amalgam mercury. I wasn't expecting much of a result as urine analysis can be iffy at best when it comes to urine concentrations of mercury. I had hoped that a low result may prove I had trouble shifting it out my system. The kit itself is quite fun to use for want of a better word. It felt like alchemy. Mix one phial with your sample in a test tube. Add another phial to a 3rd and vigorously shake. Then mix the two solutions. The kit explains the most accurate reading is made by looking down the tube rather than through the side. Doing either yielded quite different results. I took pictures of the reaction and posted them off to Osumex, I received a reply promptly and confirmed that my readings were abnormally high. .8 to 1.5 ppm. The nice man at Osumex told me generally people test at 0.05 so this was some cause for concern. He also urged me to test again to be sure. At that point the cynic in me sat up. Worried that this may just be a scam to sell more tests to gullible people. I did a bit of searching but for the life of me can't find anything to discredit it. In fact the previous review stating that nothing had happened, has made me really happy. (unless they were testing actual mercury). I can go to the Dr now and hopefully do something about it.

does what it says, a bit hard to read though

A waste of money
This expensive kit is useless. The three 'acid' solutions are contained in small phials that can only be emptied by vigorous shaking which makes it impossible to fully transfer the liquids to the test tube. Furthermore the colour test strip covers a range from 0.2 to 2.0 ppm whereas the EPA Action level is 15 ppb so the kit cannot indicate low but still dangerous levels of lead.

Didn't work
Followed the instructions but it stayed clear rather than changing colour. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone (especially considering the price).

Consideration to reliability of results
I'm not too sure about this test with it being urine. Mercury is very difficult to pass into the urine so I imagine detecting it this way would be very difficult.

The instructions aren't that complicated
Based on the other reviews, I was expecting some kind of indecipherable Engrish with unclear pictures. In reality, the instructions are very specific, and very clear. JUST READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND FOLLOW THEM EXACTLY. It's not hard.

Horrible!
I am no idiot, but this was so complicated and aggravating that I threw it in the trash. The instructions were difficult and opening the vials, especially while holding a vial of my own urine, proved frustrating to say the least. It was a waste of money!

Works Well
The test is clearly written but takes a few read-throughs to grasp. There's 3 vials inside a larger vial and the combos are critical, {a+b, but not c, etc} one vial has what appears to be nothing but a rusty ring around the tip... that is the reagent and its supposed to look like that. One of the critiques I'd read - from someone clearly English-challenged - was that the instructions were confusing and that the rusty ring was evidence of expired materials. He was wrong. The stuff works fine if you follow the instructions.

Questionable results
Unclear if this test kit works or not. Nothing shows up on results despite having evidence of copper staining in sinks. Not worth the money if you are interested in really understanding the amount of copper in your water
