    Not plastic but they help and are comfortable

They fit pretty well and are comfortable to be on for long periods of time. I forget I'm even wearing them sometimes. It's important to note than while they really help with shinners, shinners still hurt with hard impact, they're foam after all, not plastic. They make me feel much more confident while riding so I wear them every time I ride now. I've probably rode in them 40 or so times now and they still show no signs of wear. They don't hold in the smell of sweat at all but since they're really breathable, I don't really sweat in them anyway, so I've yet to wash them and you'd never know I didn't just get them yesterday.I'd suggest these to any riders who want some durable comfortable protection at a good calue but can handle a little pain sometimes.

My son (16 years old) recently started riding BMX and often goes to the skatepark, doing jumps and tricks.  It's inevitable, your shins are going to get knocked by pedals, etc.  These are a life saver.  He wears them under his jeans and really likes the lightweight, slim profile.  I like them so I don't have to keep buying band-aids!
