Be wary of the woodstove owner reviews
I bought these welding gloves, primarily based on everyone's glowing reviews of using them with a woodstove. I heat my home with my woodstove, I start it in November usually, and never have to start a new fire again until we're finished burning in late March usually. These gloves were purchased to replace a set of fireproof gloves which wore out in the fingers after about a burning season of use. The one thing I didn't like about the fireproof gloves was that they only came up to my mid-forearm. This meant that when I was loading my woodstove (insert), I frequently burn the top of my arm on the hot steel above. I was quite happy to read that these were longer. The gloves smell of leather, they have a really nice feel on your bare hands. However, they can't handle the continuous heat of a woodstove. Maybe for a quick brush with a hot log, but I certainly wouldn't want to have to pick up a log that fell onto the hearth with these gloves. A task that I did once without any burns with my fireproof gloves. One of my firebricks fell down, along with a steel elbow that holds it in place. I had to let the stove burn out in order to replace the brick and plate because the gloves couldn't shield my hands from the heat. And they begin smoking after a short period of time being exposed to the internal stove heat. I'm sure that this is the oils in the leather burning off. Overall, I'm happy with the quality gloves, I can't ding any stars for the heat resistance as they do what they're supposed to for welding I'm sure. Just buyer beware of intended use, and you might want to stick to real fire gloves if that is your primary intention.

Excellent value for the price
I have fairly large hands, from the tip of my longest finger to the base of my palm is 7 inches. My palm is about 4 inches wide at my thumb. These gloves fit nicely, not too tight and are flexible right at the start. My forearm is 12 inches in diameter near my elbow and the gauntlet part has plenty of room for me to have a heavy shirt on or to be able to get a jacket sleeve into it. The leather is a nice thickness, not cheap stuff. These gloves are probably not made to pick up things over 300 or 400 degrees F. When I am casting lead, (800 'F.) I will use extra protection to handle hot ladles or moulds. A thick potholder is cheap and will prevent burns to the gloves and my hands. They are mainly for metal spatter protection. For opening a wood stove, these would be great. At the price, I highly recommend these gloves!

Great gloves for the campfire
Got these gloves for use around the campfire. They are amazing. Can reach in the fire and grab logs and place them. Very good for moving grill and pots/pans over the fire. Your hands will get hot if you hold things too long but not if you move or adjust them. They are so good that my friend got a pair also.

This novice welder loves these gloves...
These gloves are absolutely awesome. I am very new at welding, so take my review with a grain of salt, especially if you are an experienced welder...With that being said, I'll explain why I gave these gloves 5 stars without hesitation. I purchased a slightly used Lincoln MIG welder and the guy threw in some basic inexpensive gloves and helmet. When I was beginning to learn how to weld, I noticed that the "trigger" finger of the basic gloves he gave me was very stiff... making it more difficult for me to have the flexibility needed in me to control it as well as I needed to. So, I looked around Amazon for a new set of welding gloves. Many were very expensive, to which I assume they are probably very good gloves, but I didn't want to spend too much money on them. Then, I ran across this set of gloves which had some very good reviews and was reasonably priced. A plus was that they were extra long too. This is coming from a novice welder...but I think these are wonderful...and yes, the "trigger" finger is much, much less stiff, allowing me to have much more control in my personal learning process. So, from a beginning welder's point of view...I highly recommend these gloves.

Bought as a gift
I bought these gloves as a gift for my friend who has a small fireplace in his room and is constantly just grabbing wood and trying to add it in and move other logs around, etc. with his bare hands. He kept complaining that he'd have a burn on the side of his arm from the edge of the stove or a random burn on his hand... these appear to be the perfect solution. They come up to his elbow, so his full forearm is protected... they feel quite heavy duty... and they say they're even sewn with kevlar which I'm assuming is so that the stitching doesn't come undone after a bit gets burned. I CANNOT say how these are as welding gloves, I have super tiny hands and I swam in these, so I couldn't really imagine doing much in them.. however.. they seem to be working out very well for my friend that uses them for a fireplace.

No more burns.
I really love these gloves. If you pick something up that's searing hot, you can hold onto it for about 20 seconds, or so. But that's enough time for me to get the cast iron grate off my smoker, and onto another surface without getting burned. I really love the longer length, as it saves my forearms from getting singed they way they do when I use shorter gloves. Great for use with my grill, smoker, or fireplace. I highly recommend them.

Quality appeared fine...but color is neon blue
Normally I could care less about the color of an item like this, but I ordered them to use them with my wood stove and they are hung up next to it when not in use. The neon blue color is not pleasing to the wife and since the product description pictured a pair of gloves that were cowhide/tan, I was a irritated. I gave it three stars because the quality appeared to be good.

Very good quality
I am very happy with these gloves! The leather is nice and thick. You can pick up a burning log (we use them to add wood to our woodstove) and not even feel the heat for a few seconds. They are a nice length to protect your forearms and the fingers are large enough to fit my husband's big hands. We were so happy with them we bought another pair for my father-in-law for Christmas. Very nice gloves.

The gloves appear to be of good quality, nice thick leather
The gloves appear to be of good quality, nice thick leather. I found the fit to be too small for my hands, finger length too short which made it hard to grip.

Received product was not what I ordered
After much research, I ordered "US Forge 403 18-Inch Extra Length Welding Gloves"; what I received was: "Tillman 1050-18 welding gloves". I don't want to hear "well it's the same thing, or these are just as good, or return them, or โฆ". Cavalierly replacing what a customer ordered with something else is a bit insulting. I need the gloves and it's too much trouble to send them back.
