It is easy to replace the filter. The high speed setting is quite noisy and could be a problem if you are a light sleeper, however, the low speed is acceptable. I quite like the white noise, actually, and have no problem sleeping with it on high. Low is near-silent. Yes, it has a blue light that's on whenever the machine is on, this helps me remember to turn it off. There is a plastic-y smell when you first run it, and it was gone by day three. It's been highly effective and helped me so mich with my allergies and asthma. I love it. Very reasonable. Good quality.
