Hutzler Pro-Line Lime Saver Lime Keeper, green

This truly is a great lemon/food saver. There are a few reasons why I really like it: 1-the clear bottom makes it easy to see and remember what you have left. 2-it is very durable/high quality. 3-it looks great! 4-it really does keep lemon slices fresher than a plastic bag, and it's more Eco-friendly. 5-saves you money in the long run. 6-the lid is very easy to screw on, it isn't like other screw on caps where your have to keep trying to get it to "catch" it instantly screws on with easy - I am actually impressed with this part the most. The only thing that I am not a fan of (which is no big deal) is that the yellow lid keeps "flipping over" and ends up filled with water in the dishwasher - but that isn't the fault of the product. I bought two of these in order to have on hand while the other one is washing (I use a lot of lemons) or for when I also have limes. They have a green one (same container) for limes, but it seems to be listed $10 more so I won't spend that much on it!

I actually already have an onion holder but there was one major flaw that got me every time. I couldn't see what was in it. Now, you're probably thinking, why didn't I just open it up and look. Well, call it laziness or stupidity or whatever, but when I see it sitting in the fridge, I just assume it has an onion in it. And more often than not, it is either empty or only has a few slivers when I need a lot more for the recipe I had planned on making. This is why I love this onion saver! As you can see in my brief video, half of this one is clear. Yep! You can see right through it and I can quickly tell whether it's empty or if it has enough for what I'm making. No more guessing or assuming! This also has a cute little onion pattern on the top and bottom just for some added fun. I also love the locking mechanism. Just give it a little twist to lock and a twist the opposite way to unlock. It will keep the onion smell from spreading over everything else in the fridge and keep the onion fresh until you're ready to use it. I also love that I have a designated container for onions. No more smelling up numerous plastic containers that harbor that odor for months! It's hard to believe that something like this could bring me such happiness but it really does!

Things I like: 1. Fits most onions (even some large ones) due to its contoured shape unlike some other containers by other manufacturers. 2. Emits very low to no onion odor in refrigerator. 3. Can see the state of the onion through the clear top (handy if you have red onion in one and yellow onion in another like I do). Things I don't like: 1. If the sealing tabs on the top clear cover don't precisely match the indentations on the bottom purplish red cover, can require a lot of hand/wrist strength to seal it properly. Overall a good product I use very often.

Until we had this product we always kept our cut onions wrapped in plastic. That worked, sort of, until the wrap unraveled, or the aroma of the cut onion found its way through it. Now we keep the unused portion of an onion in this product, and it seems to do at least as well as the plastic wrap at keeping the onion fresh, and a better job at keeping the onion smell from mingling with the rest of the occupants of our refrigerator. So we're saving plastic wrap, reducing spoilage, and keeping our refrigerator smelling fresh. And in between onions it's a breeze to clean this. The one issue, as I believe others have commented, is that it can sometimes be a little finicky in opening and/or closing. But it's not a huge issue for us and is easily offset by its benefits for us. And of course since the top is clear we can easily see how much onion we have left.

Serves it's purpose well and looks nice.

Very hard to open, until you try a trick. take a single drop of olive or other cooking oil and reb around one of the mating surfaces. Good product, if the lid fit loosely when new it would fall off later.

Would be 5 stars if the top twisted open like the tops of water bottles, jams, peanut butter, etc. By that I mean; with inclined grooves which automatically pop the top off as you twist. This Tomato Saver does not open itself; you have to twist slightly, then pry open; neither of which are always simple because the plastic is smooth. Reading reviews of other tomato savers, they sadly all appear to require prying open. Also based on other reviews and product images, the Hutzler Pro-Line Tomato Saver appears to have the most efficient shape and size. I have used the Hutzler Pro-Line Tomato Saver for over a year and only once did a large tomato fit so snug after one sandwich slicing that I had to slice more off for the top to fit back on. I also appreciate half of this container being clear so I can see how much tomato is remaining. Prior to using this Hutzler Tomato Saver, I had a container which was not clear and I occasionally did not realize how little tomato was remaining for the meal in preparation. Adding grooves to the side of the lid (again, think water bottles and peanut butter jars) where fingers and thumb naturally grip to twist, might also be helpful in removal of the lid.

Does one need an veg-shaped container? Apparently yes. Trying to reduce the # of plastic bags used to store bits of vegs in the fridge, purchased this thinking it's surely the plastic equivalent of what, a couple boxes of fold-over sandwich bags? Should should pay for itself ($-wise and waste-wise) relatively quickly. It's certainly prettier to look at than crumpled bags, and most importantly, it locks in the onion smell (unlike a silicone stretchy lid I tried--that was a stinker!). Also got the lime/lemon ones and can confirm they keep cut citrus fresh for several days. All easily twist open/closed and are easy to wash.

I am actually replacing the older version of this tomato saver. I was very happy with it and decided to purchase another. I am able to keep my cut tomato for many days and it is still fresh and ready to use.

Great for keeping odor down when saving in the fridge. Works very well. Also add garlic cloves.

This garlic keeper is made very well & closes tightly. It think it will help keep the garlic fresh for longer.
