Because my condensate pump pumps directly up 9 feet, water in the hose after the pump shuts off would drain back into the tank and reactivate the pump.... over and over again. I tested these one way valves in the sink and then on the pump and the work great! Now I have to say... the thing that kills condensate pumps is the crap that grows in the tank.
