Look at the finish and the interior construction (visible through the rear port/sound/mike hole) in the photos I have included and I think you will purchase this cajon. Also the case as I said is really nice with nylon web straps for handles, a HD nylon zipper with metal lockable loop, cordura-like woven nylon outer for durability, thin but dense foam padding, and a less abrasive but tough nylon inner lining. Update: I was asked a question and did not reply in time. The question "are the snares adjustable"; No, there are no adjustments for the snares. There are two snares attached inside the cajon. The only adjustment without modifying the cajon is to slightly loosen the top tree screws on the cabinet front corners which will make the snare sound more apparent. For the money I think you will be hard pressed to find a better sounding cajon. No cajon in this price range has adjustable snares that I know of. Is this product a cajon (with the bag), or maracas...?** A: I am not sure about the maracas but this item i purchased listed through amazon is a cajon that sounds like maracas this could be what people are describing.. i would caution that the item although listed here says it comes with bag, it never came with one. I emailed the seller and never recieved an answer. **Q: Are the snares adjustable?** A: Yes, it should come with a small Allen wrench. You adjust on the bottom, two small screws to adjust them. I have experience playing a cajon and was pleased after playing this one. The bass tone does have some snare mixed in, but the snare is very tight sounding, and the color of wood has a nice finish. The carrying case is also very well made with good padding and is very sturdy. Overall this is a great value.
