This lag bolt hinge has a 5/8 inch hinge pin diameter and is 6" long. It is simple to install as you only need to drill a hole in the post and screw the lag screw hinge in. It is galvanized and so will last for years to come. You can use this style of j-hinge in wooden posts (round or square) but you can also use to fasten a gate to some wooden structures like heavy sheds, barns, outbuildings and more. You just need a strong anchor board to screw into. Typically these would be used to mount a chain link fence. This lag-screw hinge is the male side of the hinge system. A female gate frame hinge is needed when mounting a chain link fence gate, farm gate, or other style of pipe gate frame. Other styles of gates can be hung from this hinge as well, they just need a bracket mounted on them that has a 5/8" hole to receive the 5/8" pin that is on the male lag bolt hinge. Very sturdy setup. You will only need 2 per gate in most cases.
