Do you have to wire in an off switch or something?** A: If you wire direct to the battery they will be on all the time and you will forget to turn them off and kill the battery. Wire them to a wire that is live only when the key is turned on to start. I also add a relay. There are sites that show how to wire them., I have been using some similar to these. These looked improved over mine which are a few years old. Better control than the hi lo switch with yours. Mine came with a 38" , 3-wire bundle on each heater. One wire to a ground, second and third wires to the switch at your chosen location. I've installed this model on several of my bikes over the years and have been very happy with them. So you don't overload an existing circuit and so you don't run the battery dead when you forget to turn them off you should provide a dedicated circuit and control it via a relay (Amazon Absolute RLS125 12-VCD Automotive Relay SPDT 30/40A) operated by a switched circuit like this: Relay #30 terminal to a 5A inline fuse (not included) then to battery +. Relay #85 term to a tap from a switched (hot only when ignition is on) wire. Relay #87 to switch center term. Relay #86 to battery negative. I liked them so much on my Vstrom I put a set on my KLX250s, on the little 250 they work perfectly! Notice that they do not have an external resister like some kits do. Those resisters get hot when in use and use power even when the heaters are in low. These heaters have two different elements for high and low and notice that one is marked for clutch side grip and the other for throttle side grip. The clutch side heater provides more heat to compensate for the grip being on metal, which acts as a heat sink, so this higher temperature heater element keeps that side as warm as the throttle side. These are designed well and they work great. Don't expect your hands to be hot wearing winter gloves at temps under 30F though. Just enough on Hi to keep my hands from freezing. If you wear thinner gloves and the temp is above 40F, they will get hot and you will need to turn down to Low.
