Works great in a pinch and on those tournament weekends to refresh the blade. Everyone who owns skates should have this tool.

Good tool to have in bag but do not treat it as a sharpener to replace real skate sharpenings
Good to have in your bag as a quick-fix repair tool to keep you skating. I would never recommend or use as a true skate sharpener, but to only use this tool if you have an issue with your blade. I have used this as a skate sharpener for an entire season to see how well it works, using before each skate, but the effects were minimal or even detrimental when not needed. While it does work and have a purpose to keep your blades functional if you have dulled them and lost the edge due to rolling the edge, I do not believe this should be used often or replace a 'real' skate sharpening and it should only be used on your blades when they are a bit deformed as a tool to repair and maintain your edges, but only when needed. If your blades are just worn and you need a new cut to get that deeper groove, this tool will do nothing for you.

Not bad if in a BIG bind I've used others I feel are better.. Is still easy to use and does give you a "bite" into the ice.

Very useful
If your kid plays hockey you need to have one of these in his or her bag. Picture this. Your kid is gearing up for the big game against Edina and they need to use the bathroom before the game. The locker room hallway is padded but there is intermittent rubber padding in the bathroom and they don’t realize that until they hear the horrible sound of freshly sharpened blades on concrete. Instant blade destruction! And it’s after 8pm at the iconic Braemar arena. No place to resharpen those skates! And now you know why this would be needed!
