Grave Before Shave Aphrodisiac Blend Beard Balm (2 oz. Tin)

What is a review but one man's opinion in a sea of opinions? I'll do what I can to be as objective as possible with aspects of this review. My normal beard balm is Viking Revolution because I liked the sent (pine and cedar) and because it seemed to have a good hold. What made me reach out to another brand is that the Viking Revolution seemed to rely a LOT on wax, which meant that most beard washes didn't do much to get the older oils and wax off my beard. I had to do a once-a-week wash that really stripped back the oils, and it was getting to be a hassle. I have used several different beard balms and butters, and nothing really grabbed my attention quite like this one. This beard balm really does feel a lot like coconut oil. In the tin it's pretty solid. Using my thumbnail to scrape up enough for application feels like it's going to be tough to spread, but it melts really, really nicely into an oil. VERY like coconut. As a result, it goes on nice and easily, spreads easily, but then in the beard it seems to do a decent job of hold and keeping the beard in shape. A quick brush throughout the day seems to keep the beard in check, and I appreciate that. Decent hold. Best yet, washing this with a gentle enough wash that doesn't strip ALL oils gets my beard clean enough on a daily basis. There are about as many opinions of how frequently you should wash your beard as there are beards, so take this for what you will. I don't need old oils and who knows what else sitting in my beard for a week. The Grave Before Shave wash is gentle enough that it doesn't strip all protective oils, but still gets the beard clean, and it works really well with this balm. The scent is definitely long-lasting. I catch whiffs of it all day, and my wife says she can smell it after I've had it on all day. *WE* have not found it to be overpowering, but in this, as with so much else, your mileage may vary. As for whether the scent is good or bad....well, that's where the subjective part comes in. They say this is leather and cedar notes. I guess I can see that. With my experience, and my wife agrees, this smells very similar to Drakkar Noir cologne. Did you ever smell that? It's not a dead ringer for that scent, but it's close. I used to wear Drakkar in the 90's and it's tied to so many memories. Meeting my wife, good friends, late movie nights. This beard balm brings a lot of that back, and I am really enjoying it. So if you want to know what it smells like without buying it and maybe hating the scent, go to a department store and find one that has a tester bottle of Drakkar Noir. If you like that, chances are you'll like this balm.

This is a great wax. Goes on smooth, easy and smells great. Doesn't hold as well if you have a handlebar but a very nice product

I like this much better than just regular beard oil. Smells great, not to strong but has a good sent. Keeps beard soft, it definitely makes your beard shine, and has some hold to it for those wild hairs. Would buy this again

I bought this product looking to see if I wanted to switch from my current product. I like it and it has a good smell to it. The texture is a tad grainy, but smooths out well. Holds my beard in shape for the work day and keeps it moisturized.

To start, I do not generally like men’s fragrances. I am asthmatic and really heavy and intense smells tend to give me full blown asthma attacks and basically that is how most men’s fragrances are (at least to me they are anyway). of course I still want my husband smell good too and for his mountain man beard to always be at it’s best so I’m always on the hunt for that perfect smell that makes him smell delicious but doesn’t put me in the emergency room. I came across the grave before shave beard oil in the mall and I fell absolutely in love with it. Aaaand of course the only think on their cart I wanted and it was completely sold out. Needless to say I was ecstatic when I found it here on Amazon and not only that but I also found that they had a beard butter and the Aphrodisiac Blend Beard Balm in the same scent too! I bought the whole set and don’t regret it for a second. Now I get to regularly enjoy my husband’s scent and Not pay for it with my life. And a plus, borrowing his sweaters after he has warn them has become a whole new ballgame. This stuff is yum delish and I highly recommend.

Read the description of the scent and figured, what the hell ... I'll give it a try. And boy, was it a GREAT move!! I love the stuff. I'm not kidding. It's great. Been training my beard now for 3 weeks, and it's working. But it is the smell that is so great. I really wish they made cologne of the same flavor. I love it!

Just got it tonight, and the second i smelled it i knew i had to write a review. Its smells awesome. The vanilla cigar ones is good but too sweet. The pine one ends up smelling sour. But this one, this one smells like cologne when fresh and mellows out overtime. Its exactly what i was looking for. Shoot, if i wanted to i could rub some around my neck before going out. I was looking for a clean crisp smell if you are too, then just get it. Youll be glad you did

I got this scent because my boyfriend has the cedar and pine scent and I wanted to switch it up for him. As soon as he put it on he realized the scent is very strong. It’s a nice masculine, clean scent. But, it is very strong like cologne. It’s weird considering it’s only leather and cedar as opposed to the pine and cedar he loves. He said he will only wear it once in awhile, he’s very sensitive to potent scents and said over time he thought it was hurting his throat. I would take caution if you don’t like super strong smelling stuff right under your nose.. otherwise I think it smells great.

It makes my beard look good and I like the smell. I will buy it again.

"G.B.S. Aphrodisiac Blend Beard Balm has a Classic masculine fresh scent of Leather and Cedar wood" No. It really doesn't. There isn't even a hint of either of those scents in this product. It smells like cheap drugstore perfume. I'm extremely disappointed in the misleading description of the scent of this product and would not recommend anyone else purchase it.

Small tin but has a nice mild scent.

The scent is confusing to say the least, it's somewhere between a bar soap and cheap leather. After using premium quality products (Artius man) you will not want to go back to this.
