Not ONE of them shows how to knit the multiple rows that make up the entire cable; they only show the "cross", ie the 1 line of knitting in which the crossover occurs. Thankfully "400 Knitting Stitches" Potter Craft, includes ALL the lines of knitting/purling that make up the pattern I need to knit. Excellent photos. Excellent concise info on how to knit it. This book now allows me to create my own patterns. Most of us already have basic scarf patterns, basic sweater patterns. This book allows us to take those patterns to the next step and embellish as we wish with the type of embellishment we prefer. Each of the 400 knitting stitches includes a photo and explanation of how to create the stitches for your own project. It also includes instruction for each of the types of stitches needed to complete the project that is easy to follow. So, if you don't know much beyond knit and purl, this book will show you how to do much more for some beautiful outcomes. I purchased the spiral bound version. There is a slight problem with this format in that the spiral holes do cut off some of the printed instructions. (A letter or more here and there in each explanation is pierced through by the spiral binding. For the most part however, you can still follow the instruction.) I am a brand new knitter and even though many of the stitches are way beyond my skill level right now, I know that when I am ready to move on to the more advanced stitches they are just waiting for me in this great resource. I like and appreciate how the book is organized. The pictures are very clear and show great detail of the stitches. There are diagrams and yes, they are small but not impossible to read or access for me. The cover shows very beautiful colored swatches which is what first caught my attention to the book. The pictures of the stitches in the the book are shown in one cream color and some with cream and black, but this is not a problem for me because the detail and beauty of the stitches is plain and clear to me even when I take off my reading glasses and look at them! So, this is my humble, newbie knitter opinion of this book.
