I read this as a small child and had not seen it around when my boys were young.  I heard it on the radio one day, sung by Carole King.  It was the exact same story and the song is "Pierre".  I played it for my 4 year old niece on Thanksgiving and she laughed and laughed.  I immediately ordered the book to have sent over to her house.  She is enjoying it and it is one she'd not had at home or school.  A story that leaves an impression for sure.

I bought this book for my grandson because he always says I don’t care. I remember this book from my childhood. Very disappointing that it’s written in snarky remarks.
