Review: Great cards for Janeite whist parties - Decks of these cards were the perfect gifts for the several Janeites in my family. The cards are very well made, sturdy, glossy and smooth, and a little smaller than standard poker size. The illustrations are excellent and reflect the time and characters of the novels. The four suites are based on four novels: Sense & Sensibility, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, and Persuasion. The two jokers are a surprise and there are quotes from the appropriate novels on the cards. Though I am not a Janeite, I have read the novels and enjoyed them - and I even participate in the whist games my Janeite relatives sometimes hold on Sunday evenings. The drawings and quotes on the cards do not interfere with using these cards for card games. The cards are practical.

Decks of these cards were the perfect gifts for the several Janeites in my family. The cards are very well made, sturdy, glossy and smooth, and a little smaller than standard poker size. The illustrations are excellent and reflect the time and characters of the novels. The four suites are based on four novels: Sense & Sensibility, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, and Persuasion. The two jokers are a surprise and there are quotes from the appropriate novels on the cards. Great looking cards, well drawn with quotes. The only draw back is Colonel Brandon is labeled “Mr. Brandon”, as a main character, it grates that the cards named him wrong. You’d think that with all the work that went into the quotes etc, the creator would know the characters names
