The machine can be powered by batteries however I found when loading 4 conventional AA batteries in to the appropriate box it was difficult to fit them all in and then not being able to successfully close the box with the result of one of the batteries being ejected . The dimensions of the AA batteries are just too big for a good fit. Recommend for beginners and occasional use. *by A***A on 28 June 2020* Never used a sewing machine in my life, so didn't want to pay much. I got it and it is really easy to use. There are however some niggles which have come with using for only 3 weeks. It would be nice to have a seem measurement guide on the plate. I didn't know or understand this at first, but now I get it. I guess it is teaching me how to sew straight without a guide, but it is annoying. Buying accessories. Trying to buy accessories is very difficult. I couldn't find this model anywhere, however, it appears to be a generic model which matches a Hyundai model where you can get accessories, including different feet. The only problem is those accessories are extremely expensive. The bobbin winder is not very good and there are limitations with the cotton. Long term, it would have been cheaper to buy a more expensive machine. But at least I've learnt a lesson about it. On the plus side, it is easy to use and has already taught me a lot about sewing despite these minor issues. It is lightweight and gets the minor jobs done. It can just about manage making masks, but I have gotten the sewing bug, so it is no longer enough for me. Not a bad little machine, but I've already outgrown it. I guess the machine being so easy to use may have contributed to that. Sewing seems very easy with it. Great for beginners and will quickly give you the urge to sew more. If you don't plan to do much sewing and need it to fix minor issues, then this might just be the machine for you. Bobbin installation is easy-ish.
