Michael Kelly Forte Exotic Java Ebony Acoustic Electric Guitar

I love this guitar. It's beautiful, feels and sounds very ovation-ish. Very unique features, definitely stands out. Perfect for the couch, the stage, or the campfire. If I had to get picky, the nut is a little grabby, but that's easy. Any beginner would be thrilled, intermediate would be happy, and even a pro would have a lot of fun with this one.

While the fit and finish (with the exception of the sound holes) are good, the sound is thin and the tuners are poor quality. The sounds holes lack any finish or binding with the rough edges detracting from the overall appearance of an otherwise attractive guitar. The acoustic performance is far below expectation, given a relatively low bar of comparison against a Fender Acoustic Pack guitar, and there you get a gig bag, picks, a strap, and spare strings to boot. The plugged in performance may be better than the acoustic, but given it is an acoustic guitar first and foremost the threshold was not met to go there. The actual guitar received was not current or as described and had the electronics on the outside upper bout, not discreetly located in the front sound hole as expected.

I have several acoustics but this one by far is my favorite. The sound is great. Very crisp and clear and easy to play. Looks beautiful hanging on the wall too.

Guitar was not a good factory set up, I spent a couple of hours adjusting neck & bridge and now I love it. The major issue with most on line purchases, is factory set ups are not consistent with good playability so it wasn’t a surprise. Truly like the sound hole on top, it put you right on the audible output. Great instrumentals on utube to learn these procedures.

I ordered this for my husband and he loves it. He did replace the strings because he likes certain ones. It looks just like this picture it is a beautiful guitar.

I picked one of these up on a whim. Ive played a lot of different model guitars, Martin, Taylor, Yamaha, fender, Gibson, ovation, guild etc. Ive always not liked something about each one. When I picked this one up, the plability out of the box was impressive. Spot on intonation, best feeling neck I've seen in an acoustic. The sound is brighter like an ovation. Its not muddy or boomy like some acoustics. The body isn't too big or small. I really can't think of anything that isn't good. I havent plugged into an amp but im going to assume it sounds fine too. If you want a solid bang for your buck guitar that looks unique, plays and sounds great, pick one up.

Excellent guitar for the money

This is a really incredible instrument. I actually bought mine straight from the Michael Kelly Factory. It has been an incredible inspiration to get back into playing again. I have an Ovation that was $700. Isn’t even close to how nice this sounds.

I have been playing guitar for several years. This guitar is well priced for the quality. Sounds amazing, came all set up and ready to go. Intonation: Very pleased with the intonation, was not expecting that from a $500 guitar. It is very well balanced and have a nice tone to it. Fretboard action: very well set up from the box, nothing to be done when I received the guitar. Sound: Very well balanced, I play Flamenco and up to death metal, this guitar has one of the best sound out of rhe box you can get for that price.

Really nice guitar. Very happy with this purchase. Came "down-tuned" out of the box which makes sense to me since you don't know what sort of temperatures the package will see en route. Nice warm rich sound. Can feel the vibrations coming out of the sound holes. Can't wait to show it off once open mics start up again.

Looks nice, but don't be deceived by the pictures and description. Maybe I got a bad one, but this was poorly made and over-priced. Returned for refund.
