## Overview

The Baader 2" Mark III MPCC Multi Purpose Coma Corrector is a precision optical accessory designed for fast Newtonian telescopes (f/3.7 to f/6). It delivers sharp, coma-free star images across a full 35mm frame without increasing magnification or requiring additional back-focus. Featuring advanced 7-layer anti-reflection coatings and modular design, it supports both visual and DSLR imaging applications. Independent tests confirm it as the sharpest wide-field coma corrector available, all at roughly half the cost of competing models.

## Description

The Baader Planetarium Coma Corrector MPCC enables owners of fast Newtonian telescopes to use their instrument for taking stunning wide-field images, or visually, for delivering wide-field views with stars that remain pinpoint to the edge - with no magnification increase! The Baader Planetarium Multi Purpose Coma Corrector has been optimized for Newtonians with focal ratios from f/4 to f/6, and will deliver 12micron stars across a full 35mm frame size. Independent optical laboratory tests (by ITE) have confirmed that the MPCC is the sharpest wide-field coma corrector available for imaging, and provides the best edge of field illumination. Visual users have reported great results even down to f/3.7. The optics are anti-reflection coated with the finest 7 layer multi-coatings available. The MPCC is also priced very reasonably. It's modularity lets you purchase only the parts you need. For imaging with DSLRs, only the MPCC is required. For visual, the MPCC can be configured with any of our eyepiece holders or directly coupled to 2" eyepieces using Astro T-2 System components.VISUALNEW- Dob users with f/3.7 - f/5 scopes have been discovering the unique benefits of the MPCC versus other coma correctors. The MPCC can be inexpensively configured for visual use with 1.25" and 2" eyepieces. Please see our MPCC Visual Configuration page for new information on some exciting visual configurations.IMAGINGThe MPCC is the ideal match for today's Digital SLRs. Owners of these new cameras find them to be ideally mated with today's fast f/4-f/5 Newtonians required to keep exposures short. The MPCC enables these users to fully correct their scopes and produce superb pinpoint color deep sky images without the complexity of more expensive CCD astrocameras. Owners of Vixen Newtonians will appreciate the inclusion of filter threads, and the high sharpness of the images. Unlike other coma-correctors, t

Review: Spend the $80 extra for this corrector! - I bought a cheaper coma corrector that I used for a year. It was heavy and I don't think I ever got the backfocus right. I had problems with reflections and chromatic aberration with the old one. Lesson - I should have spent the extra $80 a year ago and saved a lot of time and frustration. This does what it's supposed to do, easily. It's lightweight. If you're a DSLR user with a standard t-ring, you won't need to screw around with spacers to get the proper backfocus. Just pop it on and go. Stars are nice and round edge to edge using an APS-C sensor with an f5 newtonian.
Review: So far so good! - So these images represent before and after. You can CLEARLY see the difference this coma corrector makes. I needed to use a 30mm Tele-extender between the ASI183mm and the Baader Coma Corrector to get the best correction. So if you think this is just going to be a plug-n-play, well your probably wrong. You will want to experiment to find the best distance for your particular setup, fortunately I had both a 15 and a 30mm, and the 30mm is best by far. Star are nice and tight.

This works perfectly for my 12" f/5 newtonian. The stars are completely pinpoint all the way to the edge of my DSLR frame. Definitely worth it, I can use the entire frame now!
