Oils for easel painting are extremely pure to make them very stable. **Q: Can this oil be used with wax based coloring pencils on adult coloring books?** A: I actually tested this question. I took one of all my different brands of colored pencils - even crayons(as are they definitely waxed based)- made several stokes of pigment with each pencil onto a good quality of sketch paper. Then I applied walnut oil to each sample with a paint brush, then with a cotton swab. The results are as follow:1. the pigment in some- flaked (also the crayon) 2. some- faded slightly around the edge of the stoke. 3. All left an oil stain on the paper. As I am not sure why you asked this question, these are not results I would want in a coloring book as the oil stain will leak through to other side of the page both front and back. If the wax based colored pencils are too waxy - perhaps setting them out under a lamp to warm them up ... to loosen the wax/pigment to flow better.
