When she recieved it she said it only required a minor adjustment to the calibration but other than that it was great. First of all, it is difficult to read as others have said. I was aware this might be a problem but ordered anyway and did my own adjustments: First off, I painted the hands with an off-white fluorescent paint, then I cut a circle of construction paper (I chose black) and cut a slit in order to slide it behind the hands, around the spindle. This hides all that busy-ness going on behind the hands and makes them show up much better. The clock is still hard to read after dark when all the light is at the opposite end of the room and we're looking toward the darker end at the clock. Need a light over there to slightly highlight it. I've pretty well adjusted it to keep time with my other wind-ups. I keep the weight pulled up about every other day just because it's in a location where we tend to bump it if it gets down too far. I love wind-up clocks so this one rates pretty good.
