These are actually some form of plastic with a chrome look. I have installed well over 60 in my home...and they all work great. One of them did snap slightly, but again, plastic, not metal. I was able to gorilla glue the piece firmly back into place and continue using it without issue. The only thing keeping me from giving a 5 star review is the fact that it's plastic.
