On the TR-8S you can automate the course tuning of samples within a sequence, so that they can change pitch whilst the sequence is playing. However there is no global transpose funtion to change the key of a programmed sequence. The TR-8S is a drum machine first and foremost. If you require more control over melodic instruments you might also want to consider the MC-707 which offers many more melodic options and the ability to program drums too.
