I am short which means it is tucked right next to the parking break. For a taller person it would be in a better placement next to the console. Once I fussed with it and got it wedged in it was perfect. I will have to remove it to use the parking break but that will be infrequent and this will be well worth it. It is super sturdy in my placement and works fantastically. I am so happy with this purchase. It is exactly what I was looking for. I love that I can twist it and height adjust. That said, it gets in the way if I'm driving locally and need to make turns regularly. The bigger issue is that it not particularly well made: The plastic caps that go on the metal clamp that is used to adjust the height both popped off within a week. (And without them it's difficult to use the clamp.) And more significantly, the top cushion popped off yesterday, to reveal it's held in place by two small pieces of two sided tape.
