Colour B4 Hair Colour Remover

Ive always been one for changing my hair ever since I was young, and this usually consists of trying to reverse the blackest of black hair with a high strength bleach and loosing all my locks in the process! This time round though, and much less spontaneously I decided to look into finding a new way to get rid of my raven black permanent hair color. I went from bleach blonde, to bright red to black about 2 years ago now and had been black ever since (black over black many times), or I should say I've been an array of different types of black also (blue black, purple black etc). My hair now looked totally muddled and unhealthy looking and I felt "washed out" by the depth of the black color on my hair. I thought I would have to put up with it until it grew out! Then I found this product and became intrigued by some positive reviews and also after having watched some before and after videos on the internet I figured I had to try it! Even though I already new that it states it may not work if you have used UV hair dyes such as blue black which I had! I thought it would do nothing... I would like to stress right now (and I can't stress enough!) how important it is to read the instructions very VERY carefully and you MUST read the instructions more then once before you mix the products and start the process! Ive dyed my hair so many times I am so used to skipping instructions and just diving right in, but this product is different and you need to use it absolutely correctly for it to work! Before using the product I washed my hair thoroughly with a deep clensing shampoo (tresemme clense and replenish deep clensing shampoo) twice and no conditioning. As reviews have stated, the product smells bad, but not as bad to me as some reviews have made out! It is some what like egg and something else I can't put my finger on, more chemically! I was worried at first the house might smell for ages after but thankfully it didn't. I got used to the smell quite fast and it didn't bother me much. I wrapped cling film and a towel around my head and made sure I was in a warm place and blew the hairdryer on my head a few times just to make sure my head was nice and warm. Just before rinsing when I took the towel off my head I could already see a change! My hair from the roots looked very light ginger/light brown! The rinsing part is a pain, but you have to time your rinsing to be sure to rinse for 10 minutes between each process (first rinse, buffer rinse and then second buffer rinse) so you do have to put up with about 30 minutes of rinsing but I figured since my hair was so so dark in the first place I had to do it to the max! Even whilst wet I could tell my hair had lost the "blackness" and the tips looked more dark brown/copper colored whilst wet. Then I had the joy of drying my hair to see my hair get lighter and lighter the dryer it got and still in fabulous condition! I was overwhelmed by the results! It certainly didn't get rid of ALL the previous color (as it states you'll never achieve fully natural hair results if you have previously used bleach/hair lightener) but it made my hair a good couple of shades lighter, jet black to copper brown/gingery. The color was also very even to my surprise as I was also concerned the color would look crazy like really light roots and really dark tips but this wasn't the case. I would recommend this product to anyone who is unhappy with their hair and who wants an alternative to bleach! I will be using this product again at some point and I MIGHT use bleach after this but its a relief knowing I can use a much weaker bleach if I want to later on as this product has lightened my hair so well! The only thing I would say is, after my hair was dry my hair didn't smell like the product, but when I used my hair straighteners the smell suddenly came back off my hair which wasn't pleasant but after straightening no one said they could smell anything bad thankfully but be prepared for the smell to maybe linger slightly after using this product.

I have tried to get rid of my very, very dark brown hair to get back to my natural dark blonde for the past 4 months. It's taken me 2 bleaches, one set of highlights, roughly 10 hair dyes and I was still left with absolutely dreadful brassy tone. No ash tone dye or silver shampoo seemed to take off the brassiness, mind you it did tone it down a little. After reading the reviews I was slightly sceptical whether or not this product would work on my previously bleached hair, also the comments about the foul smell turned me off a little. I must admit, this colour remover is the best thing I've used! I absolutely regret not buying this in the first place! I don't really understand what's the big deal about the smell - it's slightly unpleasant but I prefer it to the smell of bleach (or most hair dyes for that matter) any given day. I have long over the shoulder hair and I wrapped my hair in cling film and kept the stuff on for an hour. I religiously followed the guidelines, rinsed my hair for 10 minutes before the buffer and I must admit, my hair was very ginger before applying the buffer (part C). After applying the buffer twice, my roots were a bit gingery but this was stated in the leaflet that came in the pack (apparently bleaching turns your own hair colour ginger) but the ends of my hair were my natural hair colour! I applied silver shampoo and conditioner straight after rinsing out the buffer because I was worried about the brassy tones. My hair turned slightly lighter tone overnight and I dyed my hair with ammonia free dye which was about 2 tones lighter than my own hair and it looks fabulous now! I definitely recommend this to everyone who is desperate to get rid off any unwanted colour or wants to get back to their natural haircolour. Also, another bonus is that it did absolutely no damage to my poor hair. You know how your hair falls out after bleaching it? Nothing of the sort happened with this product, my hair was shiny, not porous or dry whatsoever. It didn't burn my scalp, just took out the dreadful brassiness and left me with the exact colour I wanted.

If you are looking to change your hair colour any time soon, you need this product. I have bought this several times (along with Adee Phelan's hair colour remover which works just as well as this does) and each time, I have gotten really great results. The first time I used the product, I had been dying my hair a blue-black permanent shade for around 5 years. The instructions actually warned that it may not be able to remove what is considered a "fashion shade", blue black but it did. The black was removed in the first go and I was left with a medium auburn colour and my hair felt extremely light and soft. I have since returned to jet black colours and again removed them safely with this product. Most recently, I removed jet black in preparation for lightening my hair to blonde and this process can be extremely damaging but being able to take the black out with this product meant that I could achieve the blonde colour with considerably less damage than if I had had to strip the black out. The downsides to this product are firstly, the smell! The smell is truly awful and it lingers. It is not recommended to apply this product in a cold or breezy place because it affects the development so I had to wait until I had finished to open all the windows and get the smell out. It is similar to rotten eggs. Secondly, the process is lengthy and it takes an awful lot of rinsing out. If you do not buffer and rinse out the product as instructed, you risk "re-oxidising" the colour which means that it may darken a little again overnight. You must buffer and rinse the product for as long as it says to but make sure you will have enough hot water and water pressure to do so! Finally, this does not work on semi permanents such as La Riche and Manic Panic. I coloured my hair a very bright shade of red called Tulip and attempted to wash it out with this but it went a vivid hot pink colour. Simply wait for these semi permanents to wash out on their own would be my advice! The cons aside, I would still recommend this product to anyone looking to remove a permanent colour or to prepare their hair for lightening.

My hair, It is long and thick and due to being dyed brown repeatedly over several years the build up had turned my hair very, very dark so purchased this product to get back to my natural colour. I used two boxes on my hair. Product is simple to use if you read the instructions, product smells really awful of stale eggs so recommend an air freshener close by whilst applying. I followed the instructions to their precise details including the important rinsing/ buffering part (timed to their exact recommendations on alarm using my phone) and I was delighted it worked - it turned my hair to a not unpleasant light auburn so I was delighted. However, upon washing it 48 hours later I noticed that on drying it the colour had turned back dark, not as dark as before but no where near my natural colour and still too dark to even think about using a hair dye in the near future. It had turned back to dark with no interference of dyes etc. I contacted the company who gave me this response 'Sometimes when the product is rinsed, the water pushes the colour molecules deeper inside the hair. Because the hair then gets flooded with more water those colour molecules become trapped deep inside the hair. Over several days, subsequent washes or applying a hair colourant (but not in your case) the colour molecules are drawn back out and re-oxidise when the air hits them. My best tip to prevent re-oxidation, Is to rinse and buffer the hair for around 7 minutes. However, then towel off and blast dry with a hairdryer on a warm (not hot) heat setting. When the hair is 90% dry (at least) go back and buffer and rinse again for a further 5 minutes. By drying the hair mid-rinse, you are drawing out that water which could be trapping those colour molecules inside the hair and allowing the 2nd rinsing stage to effectively remove those trapped colour molecules. For the next 7 days use a simple shampoo such as Baby Shampoo and do not re-colour your hair. You need to make sure all those old colour pigments are gone before using your previous shampoo or re-colouring. If you re-colour and there are old colour molecules trapped inside the hair - the peroxide in the new colour will oxidize them and cause your finished colour result to appear much darker than you had hoped. It is an unfortunate fact that for whatever reasons, some hair types are more prone to re-oxidising than others. If you want to double process the hair with ColourB4 you can. Simply follow the above instructions. Wait 7 days (using only a mild shampoo in between) and then apply Extra Strength on the 7th day'. Now, the instructions do not say anywhere that you should use a hair dryer between rinses so if you purchase this product follow the above guidelines. I responded to the company asking why this was ommitted from instructions to no response. After further research I have found alot of users have had a similar problem. So, now I have to buy some more colour b4 (calculating marketing ploy colour b4, because they do not give correct instruction user has to purchase again). Really feel misled and disappointed with this company.

Good product and I have 3C/4A Afro textured hair, I was a little hesitant to use as I hadn’t seen any reviews for hair like my own and it was all on straight hair only, I found one YouTube tutorial for hair similar to my own but it wasn’t for the colour my hair was. My hair was ginger and I’d used a toner but it was mislabelled and turned my hair black with a red/purple tint so I freaked out once I took my towel off and saw my hair was a totally different colour, I had done three masks with the vitamin C and sulfate free shampoo to lift the red out and most of the stronger black and purple tones which worked well but my hair was still no way near the colour I had before so I decided to chance it with this not knowing if it’s any good on Afro hair, I thought I’d need two boxes as I have mid back length hair but when curly it’s shoulder length, it’s medium density and thickness but my strands are very fine so one box was enough but I’d advise to buy two just to be on the safe side as the more Afro texture you have the thicker and more dense your hair tends to be. As I’ve used henna on my hair before dyes it won’t lift henna out and even with peroxide henna is very hard to remove but it did a good job at getting the colour out of my hair and back down to my henna colour, the only downside is this smells of rotten eggs and the buffer did make my hair very very dry after so I had to do some intensive moisture based deep conditioning and even then my hair still had a funk to it for a couple days after, I found the best way to remove this smell is to add lemon juice to olive and coconut oil and plaster your hair in it daily then shampoo, add more oil and shampoo again then condition as normal but I’d advise those intending to try this product out to purchase some mint based essential oils like rosemary or eucalyptus to help mask any foul smells if they can’t do the oil treatments for a few days in a row to relieve the stench.

So I before I start let me tell you I completely wrecked my hair. I must have at least 50% loss. Yes really! So I’m Naturally mousy light brown. And I became platinum blond over time, and I got super bored with it, so I decided to go medium brown at the hair salon, well as expected it faded so fast to a horrible dirty colour, after paying £70 I decided il use a box dye, and decided on a colour that had a touch of warmth in, I liked it for a few weeks and I was due for my next appointment at the salon. So I asked to see her many colours and decided on the one in the photo it’s like a dark brown with red in. Again I liked it for a couple weeks but was getting fed up with the dye continuously washing away and spoiling my towels so I decided enough was enough I’m going to use a hair stripper, Now I already new my hair was comprised from the platinum and the two bouts of hair dying process so I knew I would have further damage. But having used hair stripper in the past I knew it had good results. So I dunno I was kind of disappointed with this one, it wasn’t as strong as the one I can buy in boots or Asda. It was in a different language too so I’m thinking this wasn’t as strong so I thought we’ll that’s a good thing because my hair is damaged. Used it and the results were a deep ginger. I kind of liked the colour tbh but felt I wanted lighter so it says I can use it again after a week so I did. Eeek!!!! Well I think I must of fished half my hair out of the shower that day. It kind of ate into my hair making the hair strands very thin not just thin in volume but the actual hair itself. So I haven’t a photo but it went like a orangey stripy yellow mix burnt in places. Just awful. So I thought I really can’t leave it like this and used the least damaging colour/toner I could think of and it was clariol dark blond Demi dye. It worked it really toned it down and I only had a further little snapage/hair loss. Iv continued to use olaplex and hair masks and bed head damage control shampoo and conditioner and I can already see a huge difference in the condition of my hair, but it still remains very weak. So that Demi literally washed out in two washes and at this point my hair I thought was ready for a semi dye. So I chose clariol lightest brown but just did my roots as the roots were literally ginger. And iv actually had a lot of compliments it’s like a dark blond with a darker brown root smudge. I continue to use olaplex oil and hair masks and great shampoo/conditioner, but be warned this will kill your hair it didn’t just strip it, it ate my hair so I wouldn’t recommend it, it didn’t give me great results, I now have snapped chunks of hair 1.5” from my scalp in parts but I don’t entirely blame the product my hair was already damaged. Just be careful. And have plenty of healing products at hand for recovery.

Does what it promises, although I ended up with the feared ginger hair (my natural hair is chestnut brown). But I've been painting my hair for years and in the past year or so it's been red so I was counting on it. I also did a lot of research before I used this product, trying to understand why the hair does not go back to the natural colour and after what I read I wasn't expecting it to go back to normal at all. The instructions were very clear and I followed them to the minute... ish... :) I have thick, curly, shoulder length hair and one package was more than enough. I conditioned my hair right after because it felt super dry but thankfully it went back to normal right after I conditioned (uff). I also dyed my hair after and had no problems with it. I dried it first to see what was the result (lighter by the roots and darker by the ends, which is normal due to the heat near the roots and the 'new' hair doesn't have as much dye as the tips) and then I wet it again to dye it, leaving the dye for about 15/20min. The smell is not as bad as I though. Don't get me wrong, it smells BAD, but on some reviews people were saying that the smell lasted for days and bla bla bla. IT DOESN'T. It smells weird after but the smell isn't strong and, in the end, the smell on my hair was nonexistent since I painted it after and left the conditioner for about half an hour. The smell came out easily (probably due to the conditioner). It's been a week and my hair looks healthy, soft and shiny, so I'm very pleased with the product.

I've been colouring my hair for 20 years with permanent dyes. Yup, it's hard to believe it's been that long since I've seen my "natural" hair colour! The last time I dyed it, my hair came out MUCH darker then I expected (and darker then the test results or package showed). I left it for a few weeks, hoping it would "grow" on me, but three weeks later, I still didn't like it, it still didn't suit me, so I made the decision to get rid of it. After much research and review readings I ordered Colour B4 and decided to give it a go. Before using, I washed my hair very well (3 lather/rinses) with a sulfate and silicone free shampoo. I applied NOTHING else - no conditioner, no product, and let the hair dry very well. This takes the silicones off the hair shaft so the product could get directly to the hair. Then I followed the directions exactly - not skimping at all on the rinsing time. I combed it through my hair, covered with cling film, used the hair blower, covered with a warm towel, and sat beside the radiator for 60 minutes. After the first step, my hair felt pretty nice (soft), but after rinsing out the buffer it was pretty dry, and needed some good conditioning. The results? Fantastic. I couldn't be more pleased. My colour is just as I remembered it to be, not really altered much at all. I honestly didn't expect much, since I've been colouring for so long, but I am really thrilled with the brilliant results. I highly recommend this - but don't skimp on the rinsing, and be sure to properly cleanse your hair and dry it BEFORE using the product - it can't be faulted for not working properly if the hair isn't prepared properly.
