This is a very nice solar light with a big solar panel and a large capacity battery. It is bright enough to replace my former wired outdoor light, and it is sensitive enough that when you approach it, it turns on right away without your having to wave your arms in front of it.I live in the Northeast where the sun is low in Winter and there are also trees. So, I use it in Mode 2 where it turns on with motion at full brightness, and it stays off the rest of the time. This means all of the sunlight goes to charge the battery and there is plenty of light when motion is detected.Here is the trick you need to know. There is a black button on the front for setting modes. The unit is shipped in the OFF setting. Charge the unit by letting it sit in bright sunlight for a few hours. Then, take it to a DARK ROOM. The Mode button will ONLY function when the unit is in darkness!The diffuse white filter over the LEDs serves to distribute the light evenly, so there is plenty of light to the sides, as well as directly underneath.I will probably buy more of these! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Glad I bought two.... errr 8 *by G***Y on August 2, 2017* I was amazed with these things. I didn't buy these for the motion detection; however, that feature functions just fine. I only use the constant on mode. Having a deck, without any electrical outlets around, drew these to me.I attached two of these on the house brick wall along the deck. I spaced them about 6 feet apart and 3.5 feet above deck level. Since the angle of light points down, this was enough to brighten that decking area and steps.For my install, I did need to enlarge the 2 holes on the top of the lighting (I didn't even bother using the attaching hole on the bottom), since it's just plastic, that was easy. And using plastic screw anchors worked great in the brick holes I drilled.I want more of these, lol.~1 week later: Ok. I just bought 6 more. I'm bad. I'm not going to mount 4 of these, instead, I just move them around the yard here and there. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seemingly excellent *by B***) on December 11, 2017* Very cool light! (warm, actually) Can't yet speak to the longevity/reliability since it's only been a few days, but the features offered are great. I have it set for the dim light + motion setting, which smoothly ramps up the light when approached. Plenty of light, and not the harsh, obnoxious white/blue colored light of the other smaller LED solar lights I have. It's cold and there's not much daylight, but it seems to gather enough juice in the daylight hours to stay lit for as long as I need it to. Bought two more. Internals seems solid, and the 18650 battery (eCig users should know all about these) can be replaced easily once it reaches EOL. Hopefully the unit lasts long enough to go through a few batteries.Body is all plastic, wrapped in a very thin layer of metal around the top and sides. Easy to install. The dumb "iThird" (third eye?) logo and other printing is about the only "feature" I don't care for.If you want to change modes and it's not dark out, just cover the solar panel on the top of the unit with something (has to be covered completely) so it thinks it's dark, then press the button to reach the desired setting.UPDATE after having one for a season, and buying another one...These don't work all that well in the winter, between the short daylight hours, and the extreme cold, the batteries just don't get a chance to get juiced up, and become depleted just from exposure to the cold temps. This isn't really the fault of the product, so I'm not removing any points for it, more of an FYI.
