Is it retractable or am I just not seeing it.** A: Handle is on opposite side to picture. Handle folds into side of reel to park. Nice product **Q: Can the cable reel unit be mounted outside?** A: Not that I am aware of, perhaps a self-made bracket could be constructed. **Q: can you leave the reel outside** A: I wouldnlt but tyou could, I would ring Masterplug for advice on that question as they responded well to my queries when I thought my reel was faulty. **Q: Can you leave the reel outside permanantly on the 30m + 3 and plug the switch inside** A: I would say, NO. I doubt that the reel is intended to be weatherproof. Moreover, although the 13 Amp covered socket is sort of weatherproof, it would not stand being left out permanently. The seal around the flex would be the weak link, Yes, rubber. But not 100% sealed. There are plenty of weatherproof boxes on AMAZON into which the socket could be taken for permanent outdoor use. An IP rating of 65 would give good permanent outdoor protection. And use a Residual Current Trip indoors for safety, in case of accidents. . ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very useful *by C***Y on 22 August 2022* This is a really useful extension cable as it connects to any electrical item with a 3-pin plug (drill, lawn mower, strimmer, work-lamp etc). It is easy to wind and unwind the cable but you will need to hold the reel still with your other hand or a foot unless it is fastened to the wall. Some of the text in the advert seems to suggest the unit is weatherproof but this only applies to the 3-pin socket. It doesn't include an RCD, which would greatly improve the safety features, but this can be overcome by using an RCD at the power source. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Masterplug OATRU3013FL3IP IP65 Rated Reverse Reel with Pull Out Socket *by Y***L on 4 October 2019* I've been needing an extension lead for some time but was looking for the best one for safety. This one fitted the bill. It was very lengthy, fairly insulated for weather and tugging on the ground as well as a safety shut down and is on a strong spool. The only downside is that it does not have an automatic wind up button.
