Blue Italian 12 Piece Set

This is beautiful dinnerware. I especially like this edition because of the mugs- it's really why I made this purchase since these 'cottage' mugs are so difficult to find and so expensive to buy on their own. I like that the set is Made in England and not in China. I have some larger Blue Italian mugs made in China and they are lighter in weight and not as quality as the England made pieces. I don't like when this pattern is faded and vastly prefer the deepest, most brilliant blue possible. These are not the latter, but they are a good, stong blue, nonetheless. I tried my luck and bought an Amazon Marketplace Open Box edition of this set and saved substantially...All the pieces were perfect, just the box was a bit damaged, so it was a great value to boot. If you like the pattern, at whatever price, these are great-looking dishes.

Spode has been in business for 250 years and it's heart-warming to know I can have a dinnerware set based on the antique blue and white transferware from the first half of the 19th century for modern day usage! I can use this in my oven or microwave and if it breaks, I can replace it! Although the mugs were manufactured in China, I would like to remind everyone that the Dutch and English merchants of the 17th and 18th century were importing blue and white ceramic wares from China where it was originally manufactured for commercial trade. The British contribution was to invent "transferware" around 1750 created by transferring an etching on thin paper to the ceramic piece and then firing it. Thank you!

The colors are beautiful. I absolutely love this pattern! The fact that it’s machine washable is a big plus too. Quality is perfect

I've always loved the Blue Italian pattern and the set didn't disappoint....except that the Mugs are made in China. The set was well packed and delivered intact.

This is a pretty, functional everyday inexpensive set that is dishwasher/microwave/stovetop/oven (?) safe. Although inexpensive, it is not unsightly or blurred prints sloppily applied as some reports of cheap china detail. This looks nice, is well-made for the price, and frankly probably wouldn't break if I dropped it on the kitchen floor; it's not real "ceramic", and made for durability. It may not impress your mother-in-law on a Holiday, but they're really quite lovely and I'm very pleased with them, use them every day, and the price is terrific! Inexpensive, not cheaply or hastily manufactured. The dinner and salad plates are stamped "Made In England", the cups are made in China. :) I say get it! I changed my order from a Marketplace Seller to Amazon and paid a little more just to get it shipped finally.

I’m so thrilled to have received the SPODE Blue Italian as it came as a gift from my husband (& more of this collection since I want a set for 24 of White & Blue from England)! I’ve inspected the items and none was broken. It came really well-packaged. Bonus is that it arrived a day earlier than expected! Would recommend the store & items bought. Both dinner and salad plates say “Made in England”; the mugs are “Made in China”, though. The dinner plate is “scalloped-shape”. I saw some & minor imperfections mostly at the back but I attribute those to being that it’s supposed to have as it’s handmade pottery.

Bought this set November 2010. Beautifully packed, quick delivery, lovely set! However I broke the dinner plate and have hunted all over the place for one plate. Ended up deciding that I might as well just purchase another set as 4 dinner plates were $80.00 for just 4 dinner plates and I had purchased the entire set for $110 a couple of months ago although I don't need more mugs I thought well I could always use more salad plates...imagine my surprise when I found there had been a HUGE price increase and rather than $110 the set had increased to $160! So I begin to look online, Distinctive Decor carries the exact same set for $110 has free shipping and no tax unless you live in Oklahoma...and yes it carries exactly the same SKU made by Spode. So until Amazon knocks off the $60 price increase and goes back to selling this set for $110...I'd check out Distinctive Decor.

I wish I would have read all of the reviews before I made this purchase. I was so disappointed to see that the salad plates are really bread plates, the same size as a saucer. The biggest disappointment is that the mugs are made in China. This seems extremely deceptive to me, my impression was that everything was made in England which weighed heavily in my decision to purchase. You are really getting 4 dinner plates, four small bread plates, and 4 odd mugs that are made in China for $100.00. The plates are marked “Made in England” yet it’s sold as a set with the mugs from China. Amazon delivery service was spot on as usual, everything was nicely packed too.

Did not turn up to the mark. The product which is shown in the photo didn't turn up the same. Not satisfied with the product

Love, love, love these dishes. Work perfectly in my new blue and white French Country kitchen. Worth every penny.

To be used for special occasions. It is quality and charm at a reasonable price. It was well packed and arrived safely..
