## Description

Clip style Omnidirectional Stereo Microphone

Review: One of the best lapel mics I've used - I love this mic, it's inexpensive, small and has great sound quality for the price. Only real con of it is that it's cheap feeling (which I guess is fitting since it is inexpensive). I've bought one a few years ago, never had issues, and just bought it again. So It might be more durable than I thought. It is true stereo, if your device supports it. For those on Android (since that's all I can speak on, since i'm an android user), you'll need a 4 Pole Y splitter to 3 pole mic, 3 pole audio: ENVEL 3.5mm Jack Cable Adapter Kit Mutual Convertors for PC Mac PS4 Xbox one headset and Smartphone Tablet Earphone with Headphone/Microphone Simultaneously Y Splitter Audio 2 Female to 1 Male (Cable) The real problem comes in finding an app on android that actually allows true stereo input, I haven't found one, only ones that duplicate the channel. Though I've tested the stereo feature on my laptop. If you do use this on a Windows PC (since again, that's the one I use, can't speak on Apple), with Realtek audio drivers and one 3.5mm 4-pole input, a box will come up and you'll want to choose mic, though if you use the Y adapter I listed on your PC, then you need to choose "headset" for it to work, that even goes for 4-pole lavalier mics. Common issue people have when plugging stuff into their PC. In Audacity a free open source and rather amazing audio program for Windows, you can see that it's stereo. I bought one for my car, to make a handsfree kit out of a y-splitter, aux cable, and a 4-pole extension cord. It works well and the audio quality is really nice.
Review: I've had mics that cost 3 times the price of this sony lavaler and they barely sounded better or they were on par with this mode - First off let me say this mic has been out for a few years. At first I was apprehensive about purchasing it for this reason. But it is built with sony quality. I see sonys philosophy. Its not broke so theres no need to fix it (or make a new model) just for the sake of making a new model. Build quality - Top notch, the wire is just the right size in my opinion, you dont want a lavaler mic cable too thick for the sake of rubbing feedback. It has a right angle plug which adds to the durability of the cable. Sound - Stereo sound , its crystal clear. I've had mics that cost 3 times the price of this sony lavaler and they barely sounded better or they were on par with this model. Looks - Its a little flashy. Sometimes you want flashy sometimes you dont. I guess thats up to each persons preference. I dont mind either way since its so small. Cost - Its a steal at this price, if you can get it for less that $20 dollars. Go for it! Possible deal breakers - It will not work out of the box for cell phone use. You will need a TRSS adapter. That can cost you about 10 - 20 dols more so be aware. Still totally worth it im my opinion. The wires is about 3 feet so if you need more length add another adapter Also the stereo sound can be abit distracting if you plan on using it for simple Video logs. Conclusion - Even with these possible short comings. This mic gets 5 stars easily. Its a hell of a bargain. Trust me

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the other end of the mic, usb or a line-in?**
A: It has a standard 3.5 mm (1/8") stereo jack, not USB.

**Q: How long is the microphone's cord?**
A: It's about the same size as your standard headphone cord. 40in. Plenty long to be clipped to the top of your shirt and reach your pocket.

**Q: Has anyone modified their mic to make it a little easier to hide?**
A: The microphone already looks like a pen, so why would I want to modify it? Seriously, most people that I run into think its a pen.

**Q: Will this work with a wireless mic set up? Like this one? Pyle-Pro PDWM96 Lavalier Wireless Microphone Syste**
A: The Sony ECMCS3 mic may not work with the Pyle-Pro PDWM96 since the mic has a stereo jack and the Pyle requires a mono jack, however, you could buy an adapter for it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the better lav mics. Great for PC or mobile phone recording!
*by A***R on July 11, 2016*

Bought to trial for my YouTube Let's Play channel. When used properly, this mic can be a great asset in your arsenal! It does pick up a bit of background noise, and is susceptible to rubbing on clothes a bit (though not any more than any other lav mic). I was using this as a mic plugged in directly to my PC, but I also purchased this converter (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004SP0WAQ/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_30) to be able to use this mic with my android Moto X. I have not used it extensively for that purpose, but was able to get it to run just fine. If you're the type that want to film out and about, this could be an excellent boon to your mobility, without having to pick up something pricier like the Zoom H4n, and family. For the price, this mic can capture very good, clear vocals! If you need a lav mic, and cannot afford a professional grade one, this would be my recommendation. This can even be used to good effect instead of a headset mic, or dedicated mic. (I'd peg this as better than most headset mics, though slightly more noisy - see below for noise reduction tips). The ability to use this in Mono or stereo orientation is excellent and adds further flexibility to it's use. There is not a mono setting, per se, but you can point one of the mics towards your mouth and throw out the other track in post-production with a program like Audacity. If you are experiencing any issues with sound when using on computer, try using Audacity's noise reduction plugin. When you make your recording, leave some space in the track with only background noise (no mouth sounds, no traffic, no breathing, etc. Just background noise). Sample that section with the plugin and then apply the noise reduction to the whole track. I like to use 10-20 seconds of pure noise, and have had good luck with reducing the noise by 12-24 dB. Always check the result to make sure the distortion is acceptable (whenever you reduce noise, you alter everything else, but there's a balance there).
