Cane Creek Thudbuster LT Seat Post

An excellent product that does what it advertises. Very easy to install - just replace the standard seatpost with the Thudbuster and move the saddle over. Adjusting the saddle tilt is easy with the dual adjustment bolts. The best thing is the way it works when you're riding. The Thudbuster smooths out the bumps and makes a road bike with no built-in suspension ride much smoother overall. This is not a replacement for a full-suspension bike, because obviously the front forks are not affected, so you still get shocks and road vibration through the handlebars. But, it does give a much smoother ride on the seat, and bumps from the back wheel are largely eliminated. The product ships with 3 elastomers of various firmness, so you can tune the ride harder or softer depending on your weight and personal preference. The construction is high-quality, and it doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. Overall a good product, and I would recommend it. The only downside is the price, but this is a quality product, and you do get what you pay for.

Arrived much sooner than expected. Very happy with the product although I have ridden my bike much since I have fitted it, so will have to see how it performs in the long term.

This is the ST not the LT as in the item title but the description IS for the ST. The ST has the rectangle insert not the cylindrical that comes with the LT so hope that clarifies what you are buying. Its an excellent bit of kit and does what its meant to do. It comes with 3 x elastomers, the rectangle rubber insert that forms the suspension according to your weight. Simply unscrew the allen keys, remove a side and insert the correct elastomer for your weight. The only downside to note is due to the suspension part of this post it adds height to the post. I usually have my normal post about 2 " above the post clamp however with this I have it fully inserted but its still higher than my old post was.

I know because I bought one from a major cycle parts supplier (CR); just read the label at the end of the box. I suggest that the description is corrected. This does noticeably soften bumps, and is the best I can get for a 25.4 frame; however the cycle paths where I live have become so neglected and damaged that I'd have preferred the real LT version, with the rectangle like parallelogram suspension frame and double round elastomers. I'm looking to get the correct version cover next i.e. not the LT one on Amazon; it would look stupid.

The cheapest and simplest route to dampening uneven road surface is larger tires inflated at lower pressures coupled with a more pliant saddle. But when that option would've exacerbated toe overlap issues, require a larger set of fenders and jettisoning my stock of Marathon 28c I decided to stick with my setup and opt for a Thudbuster to mitigate the jarring of broken blacktop on my long commutes. Having used and appreciated the LT version of the Thudbuster on my hardtail for years -- it would've been overkill on a pavement bound commuter -- I was familiar with its back and away movement and exceptional build quality. Installation was a snap; even my under saddle toolkit could be installed as before, albeit at a different angle. The TB shipped with three elastomers (#3, #5 and #7) with the 'medium' #5 installed, it being the recommended firmness for my 75KG weight. There's no discernible bobbing when pedalling, no sideways sideways saddle shimmy either. Bump absorption is subtle but definitely noticeable: jolts that would require posting up now can be negotiated while remaining in the saddle. Don't expect a silky smooth ride while riding over broken asphalt. The TB will take the sting off the hit and blunt the force. As long as that's understood you shouldn't be disappointed in the Thudbuster. The Thudbuster's two chief deterrents are: weight and expense. Weight is not the chief consideration for utility riding or commuting. Expense may be, but if your only car is a bike then it can be justified as an amenity that can easily pay for itself in the form of greater comfort over the course of thousands and thousands of kilometres. My advice: exhaust the simplest and least expensive alternatives first (tires and saddle) before moving on to the Thudbuster. If you do opt for a Thudbuster expect it to perform realistically not miraculously.

I'm recently back on my bike after a long layoff and discovered that even halving my commute wasn't going to be enough. I dislike gel saddles, I cycle year round in the rainy Pacific NW I needed something to take the edge off of pot-hole season and let my muscles work back into condition. It definitely does take the edge off the bumps in the road and without punishing my knees though I've not put my spd pedals on yet. I've never used suspension before so I have no comparison, the only down side is that it eliminates a light mounting point.

I purchased two of these -- one for my wife, and one for me. At the time of this writing, we've traveled about 100 miles using these seatposts, and they're worth every penny. Simply put, the beauty of this device stems from the fact that the shock-absorbing mechanism works along the direction of travel induced by riding over a bump. This feature is what makes the design far superior to other shock-absorbing seatposts that move axially (upon which I have traveled several thousand miles). Of particular importance to me is smoothness with which the device works because I have serious back problems, including several badly herniated discs in my upper and lower back. THANK YOU Cane Creek for keeping my on my bicycle! As for quality of materials, design, and workmanship, they're all TOP SHELF. I was a helicopter mechanic in the US Navy, and this seatpost looks and functions like a piece of aircraft equipment.

Estuvo en mi wishlist por mucho tiempo, no me decidía por la cuestión económica, definitivamente no es algo "barato" Hasta ahora no lo he utilizado por mas de 50km seguidos, mis recorridos en ciudad son cortos y no he tenido oportunidad de una salida "larga", pero de verdad se siente muy cómodo, las lineas que hay entre el concreto hidráulico de las calles simplemente desaparecieron (llanta 700x25 a 100psi), los baches apenas son perceptibles, los baches mayores (aka craters que abundan en la cd) sigues obligado a salir del asiento, mas por el golpe en las ruedas que el asiento... esto es haciendo uso en ciudad en bicicleta de Cromoly (SE Racing Lager) En la bicicleta de turismo, posición mas relajada, llantas 700x38 (65psi) y uso en empedrado/adoquinado/brecha/arena suelta el cambio fue igual de bueno, se elimina casi por completo la molesta vibración es como rodar con llantas con muy baja presión. Gracias a eso definitivamente hay un aumento en la velocidad de conducción (en mi caso no era el objetivo a lograr, pero si es perceptible ese punto) (kona sutra) Si eres de los que se preocupan por el peso de los componentes en su bicicleta, este poste NO es para ti... es "pesado" pero bien vale la pena rodar cómodo es mi opinión Lo uso con un asiento Brooks B17 Narrow que de por si ya era comodo...
