Review: Solid kit... - Fortunately, I have not experienced any broken cases, rusted parts, or any other negative issues with this product. I've had an older set of Crescent tools and they have been great for the last 10 years. Everything from home maintenance to car maintenance, my old kit has not failed me. I needed another set for traveling in my RV, which required a large selection than most portable tool kits offer. This is important to note, as I was looking for a wide variety of tools for RV repair and maintenance purposes. The set cam in with no packing issues like some of the older reviews had experienced. Once opened, the tools were all intact and in new condition. No anomalies, including the case and the latches on the case. The tools seem like they're as good quality as my older set without rubber handles, which I found a good feature as the rubber handles tend to turn under heavy duress. The variety of tools would work very well from the basic socket sets (standard/metric), screw drivers, and the even varying drivers needed for specialty screws. The size of the case is smaller than my older set and much more compact for permanent storage in my RV. In regards to the non-American made tools, I don't personally believe this will be an issue, as historically I have had no issues breaking ratchets, bending, or stripping tools like some other brands I've used. I can't answer for the longterm use, so please keep this in mind when considering my review. This is what I would consider a budget toolset with varying tools to do 98% of any home job or mechanics job. I've worked with both in my lifetime and I have found that these types of tools work fine in almost all applications. If you know how to use these tools, there's a good chance there isn't going to be an issue with them. If you abuse them or use them they way they were not intended, you have a good chance of breaking them over time or suffer from rust if not stored correctly. Whether you're using this on the road, at home, or in the garage, this is a good compact kit that will go a long way. The case is a very nice feature, as you don't need a separate toolbox for the tools themselves. If each space is filled, you know you have all your tools put away correctly. In regards to the bad reviews, if you get one delivered with any of these issues, I would return it for a new set. This is a set worth having around. Overall, I would recommend this kit for it's selection of tools, decent quality from Crescent (from historical experience), the included case, and the compact formfactor/weight of the case/kit.
Review: Excellent basic mobile toolkit! - I bought this tool kit 3.5 years ago, and have put it through some real work. Here's my use case: I have a well equipped home workshop, including plenty of high quality mechanics hand tools. But increasingly, my wrenching has been done outside the shop or on the road. I bought this kit to carry along when I do recreational motorsports, carry it around the house for doing some types of maintenance (like rebuilding our washer and dryer), and carry it outside to work on motorcycles, snowmobiles, trailers, cars and trucks. I use the kit on a weekly, and sometimes daily, basis. The kit itself is a well designed collection of tools. The vast majority of tasks I use it for require no other wrenches, sockets, or screwdrivers. Naturally, I occasionally, I have need for larger sockets or screwdrivers, or ratcheting combination wrenches, etc. But this tool kit is the starting point for most projects. I keep it stowed in my house in a central location away from the shop where it is ready to go.... The case is mostly great. It really holds each of the tools well--sometimes too well. I frequently pop out the screwdriver to aid in popping out other tools. What is nice about the case is that I ALWAYS get all the tools back in the toolbox every time. The forced organization works well for me and ensures nothing gets lost. I enjoy doing maintenance even more when I am not wasting time fishing around in a toolbox for the right wrench or socket. In fact, using this took kit inspired me to organize all of my hand tools in my workshop. Most of the tools seem high quality and durable. The combination wrenches feel really good. The ratchet wrenches also feel very good. I've put some sockets through some high torques with no failures. Extensions are good. The screwdrivers are pretty good; they feel a little cheap, but they actually work quite well and have been durable for me. Some tools are acceptable, but not outstanding, primarily the slip plyers and the needle nose plyers. The Allen wrenches and hex bits are nothing special, but they are nice to have. I added a MulWark bit ratchet wrench to the kit, putting it in some free space under the ratchet wrench handles. I've put these tools through some paces on projects over the years, including a car engine swap, pulling engines out of snowmobiles and motorcycles, as well as lots and lots of vehicle maintenance. None of the tools have broken or have needed to be replaced. Negatives: The grip on the slip joint plyers slips off under heavy use. I live in the Pacific Northwest where it rains and drizzles a lot. The bit drivers, the slip joint plyers, and the needle nose plyers have some rust starting. It is my fault for not spraying them down with a protectant before working in the rain. The Allen wrenches have shown no signs of rust, and the rest of the tools have rust-proof plating. Overall, this took kit is an outstanding value. I would buy it again without hesitation.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for car or Jeep
*by B***J on April 15, 2015*

I'm an avid do-it-yourselfer, the guy that all my friends go to for help with their cars, air conditioners, furnaces, etc. I have pretty much every tool a non-professional would have, ranging from Craftsman to Harbor Freight, so I feel I'm qualified to weigh in here... Some background on why I bought this set: I wanted some decent tools to throw in the back of my Jeep, as a "just in case" set, and I liked the assortment provided here. The case is really quite nice, but it's much bigger than I expected. No problem, I had no intention of keeping it. I pulled all the tools out and tossed them into a standard 50 cal ammo can. All of these tools fit with plenty of room for extras (the can was only about half full). (And by the way, my 11-year-old son wants me to mention that he loves the empty case for... um... whatever an 11-year-old would think of doing with it). The point of this is that you could toss it in your trunk as-is, or if you want to save a lot of space (at the expense of organization), you can do that, too. So, what do I think? Wow! These tools are nice. Considering they are (probably) made in China, I'm even more impressed. I would not be embarrassed to have these as my primary tools. The weight, quality, and finish is superb. Nothing like Harbor Freight tools, and in some ways, they are more pleasant to hold than my 1980's Craftsman tools (more rounded, fewer sharp edges). At this price, the selection is hard to beat. I like that there are a lot of wrenches, and dedicated screwdrivers, not just a bunch of bits (but on the other hand, you do get tons of bits for when you need them). So what's missing? What should you add? Well, if you've done much off-road 4x4 trail running, you'll probably agree that any tool kit should include a hammer (preferably a 2lb mini sledge), a metal saw (I include a standard hacksaw blade), duct tape, electrical tape, zip ties, some heavy insulated wire, some crimp connectors and a crimper. Whatever tool your 4x4 needs for front wheel bearings, or at least some sort of punch (which works with your sledge hammer). Maybe some WD40 or similar. A crappy multimeter, or a 12V test light. ?? Okay, back on topic: If you've read this far, you should just order this tool set. You know you want it!
