## Description

Charlotte Bain (Christine Lahti, The Doctor, Swing Shift) is the perfect high school principal for small-town Texas: quiet, strict, strait-laced.     Love versus Status, Prejudice, Small Town Texas

Christine Lahti (Charlotte) and Ruben Blades (Ernesto) are two wonderful actors in this story of unconventional love.  Charlotte is the Principle and is dating the Coach,  although it is not a fulfilling relationship for her. Ernesto is the new janitor.  He does some good deeds and gets Charlotte to accept an invitation to a dance.  This is the start of a test of each ones character, with meeting the family and conflicts from outside.  I LOVED this movie when I first saw it and had to have this DVD when I found it, so I could watch it over and over again!  Reuben Blades and Christine Lahti are really great actors and they shine in this movie, these parts.

OK, this is an oldie, and hasn't aged real well.  It's hardly shocking in this day and age for people from different cultures to date and fall in love.  But I love the two leading characters.  I saw this movie years ago; well, it was more than a few decades ago.  Now you know I'm old.  But I've never forgotten this movie and was happy I finally had a chance to watch it again.  I'm not sure I'd tell anyone I know about it, and I watched it while my husband was gone.  It's a guilty pleasure, like buying that chocolate shake at McDonald's twice a year that I really shouldn't, but I sure enjoy it down to the last slurp.  And I don't tell my husband about that either.

This is such a delightful movie! I first saw it as a made-for-TV flick in 1989 or 1990 on TNT and really enjoyed it, but then I never saw it again. I was really glad to find it on Amazon. Christine Lahti and Ruben Blades are both great and totally believable and likable characters.
