But from personally experience, I have left the original water in the pillow for over 2 years without issues. Then again, the water where I live is chlorinated. I recommend if your on well water or non-chlorinated water supply, I would advise to replace annually. **Q: Is there a zipper so that you can add / remove the fiber filling if youd like? Most pillows are stuffed too much for my preference.** A: No there is no zipper. It’s actually the just right amount of filling. I myself like fluffy pillows that are adjustable. The water level is the deciding factor. I adjust it according to my needs. It’s very comfortable and easy to maintain. **Q: Can you sleep directly on the water side? I use a hot water bottle filled with cold water to help with hot flashes. Will this work?** A: You can sleep on either side, the back has the opening for adding water and it is flush. I don’t think it will keep you as cool, and will probably be too much hassle to refill with cold water every time. Ouh you could use ice cubes? **Q: No instructions came with this. How much water do you need to add?** A: You fill the pillow to your confort plus a small amount of bleach to keep the water fresh. But they can leak easily. I don't think I can ever go back to a regular pillow ever again. ### ⭐ Don't buy if you have arthritis or any hand problems *by C***J on May 12, 2020* The minute I opened the package and read the instructions for filling the pillow with water I knew this wasn't going to work. For the medium softness of the pillow, I had to pour around 80 cups of water into it. When you are doing that, the pillow needed to be standing upright in a chair. After you have the amount of water you want in it, then you are supposed to (with the pillow still in the chair in an upright position and push the water down with your hands to get all the air pockets out of the water because the water isn't supposed to splash around inside the pillow. Well, I did it for over 30 minutes and the water was still splashing around. You are supposed to continue to do this over and over until it not splashing. I have multiple sclerosis and thought this pillow would be good for me.
