Frequently Asked Questions: Q: Will this dock work with any computer that has USB-C?A: Yes, all the functions will work, however for powering a laptop the laptop itself must accept Power Delivery. The SD4700P supports USB Power Delivery (version 3. 0, 5V/9V/12V/15V/20V) Profile 4, or up to 60W on a single USB-C cable. Q: Will this dock work with a laptop that has USB-C but doesn’t support Alt mode? A: Yes, the Display Link technology provides support for USB-C computers that don’t support Alt mode. Q: Will this dock work with a Thunderbolt 3 port A: Yes, Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C is mechanically the same, so all the normal functions of this dock will work when plugged into a computer’s Thunderbolt 3 port, but will only support USB-C speeds. Q: Does this dock require new driver installation on my computer? A: Yes. For Mac OS, you need to download the Display Link Driver for Mac manually from the Display Link website, display link/downloads/macOS. For Window OS, the Display Link driver should automatically install when the dock is connected to the computer the first time. If not, you need to download the Display Link Driver for Windows 7/10 display link/downloads/windows. Q: Will this dock work with a computer that has USB-A but not USB-C?A: Yes, the Display Link technology is link-aware and will work with different USB types. And, a USB-C to USB-A adapter is included. However, it will not charge a laptop over USB-A unless you purchase the optional power tips. Q: What wattage laptop will this dock power via the USB-C cable? A: As long as the laptop accepts Power Delivery via USB-C, the SD4700p will charge a laptop that requires 60 watts or less. Please check your owner’s manual or with the laptop manufacturer for specifications. Q: What cable should I use to connect my monitors? A: We recommend a direct HDMI-HDMI and a Display Port to Display Port connection to the monitors. You can use a passive HDMI to DVI adapter or cable for a DVI monitor connection. When going from Display Port to VGA, an active Display Port to VGA adapter/cable is required. Q: Can I use another USB-C cable (not from the original box) on this dock? A: We can only the Kensington USB-C cable (a 1m length cable) shipping with this dock will work. USB-C cables vary greatly between different manufacturers.

Review: May be a bit pricy depending on your budget, but I have no regrets - Got my first Mac (the MacBook Air 15) and knew it only had 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports. Trying to replace my old desktop PC and laptop with this one thing, but I'm someone that has A TON of peripherals. This was a bit pricy, but it had plenty of ports and the reviews were great. I have a bunch of old monitors around so I wanted to utilize them since they were laying around. I can't speak for anyone with a bunch of 4k monitors that want high refresh rates, but for these old 1080 monitors at 60hz, it's works perfectly fine. Just make sure you install the DisplayLink app, and you're good to go. I also don't know how to get the non-DIsplayLink port to work for another monitor, but I've got 4 monitors up already (one directly into the second Thunderbolt port on the Mac and counting the laptop monitor). I'm sure I can figure out how to get 5 monitors going, if I wanted to, but I don't know, yet. This thing feels well-built. The sound coming out of the sound port is actually pretty good, but I'm no audiophile. I've got it sitting on the edge of the desk and my cable management needs work, but it's pretty low profile and easily put out of the way to hide. Honestly, I just plugged everything in and it was fine. The ethernet going into it gives me the speed I'm actually paying for, as my old Alienware from 2019 throttled my speeds, simply due to outdated hardware. Keep that in mind if your internet is slow and you're wondering why. Thunderbolt 4 on the MacBook Air M4 gives me noticably MUCH faster file transfer speeds. I know it's just the capability of the new laptop compared to my old rigs, but this dock definitely compliments everything. Can never have enough ports, though lol
Review: Works great! - Great device was able to connect my macbook air to 3 external displays and 3 hard drives simultaneously, wouldn’t have dreamed of it, and a macbook pro connected to 4 displays. Ports work great and speed is good, Great device!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Impressed me.
*by F***T on November 12, 2025*

Really impressed with how easy it was to setup and start utilizing. I'm so used to macbook pros, that I didn't know macbook airs had issues with multiple screens. This makes it easy to setup and use multiple screens and the other ports are helpful. It is definitely a lot chunkier than I expected but now that I know what it can do it is a must have imo.
