Strawberry Shortcake is throwing a party for her little sister Apple Dumpling's first birthday. After making a list of the supplies they'll need, Strawberry Shortcake, Apple Dumpling, their cantankerous cat Custard, and their overly enthusiastic puppy Cupcake consult the map and head out into Strawberry land in search of things like juice, cake, and party hats. The adventuresome group meets lots of new friends like Gingersnap, Orange Blossom, and Huckleberry Pie, and learns to value friendship and diversity along the way. Certain plot points, such as a journey with a map and a cat who writes with its tail, serve as an over-sweetened, 1980s premonition of newer shows like Dora the Explorer and Sagwa while the automated cookie machine begs comparison to the 1971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory . Nonetheless, girls ages 2 to 6 will very likely gobble-up this animated show like a bowl of breakfast cereal--but hopefully not the strawberry-scented DVD box. DVD features include English and Spanish audio, English and Spanish subtitles, and a music video. --Tami Horiuchi Strawberry Shortcake is planning a first birthday party for her sister Apple Dumpling, so she sets off on an adventure to find the perfect party supplies (juice, cookies, a cake and party hats) and makes five new friends (Orange Blossom, Angel Cake, Ginger Snap, Honey Pie Pony and Huckleberry) along the way. Review: Sweet Strawberry DVD - Our granddaughter(who turns 2 years this month)has just recently shown an interest in watching this Strawberry Shortcake DVD which we have had since June.I remember watching a SS show on TV with my daughter in the 80's and although the characters have changed some(different clothes,Custard was always a sarcastic cat,but she didn't talk and Pupcake used to be Huckleberry Pie's dog)the movie has no violence and is a good choice for young children. And even though the voices and dialogue are sugary sweet, this appeals to young children.Kiersten's Grandpa watched this whole 45 minute movie with her and if he can do that, anybody can!!!But whatever happened to all the other SS character and the Purple Pieman and Sour Grapes? My daughter had collected ALL the dolls and their pets and there were MANY of them. Review: Loved it as a kid and now my kids love it - I loved this movie as a little girl, and now all my kids love it as well! So happy that I was able to find a copy!

Absolutely not worth the money
Said the used DVD is "like new." I cannot fathom why someone would send a sticky scratched up disc and case and advertise it as new. Also There is only about 5 minutes worth of footage. Thats it. Definitely was not worth saving some money to have my child cry that it wasn't right. SO DISAPPOINTED.

My four year old daughter's favorite movie!!!
My daughter received this for Christmas last year and has watched it 20 times or more! She just loves the story and I think it has a good moral to not judge a person before you get to know them! This is must have of the Strawberry Shortcake movies so you can learn how Strawberry meets all of her friends. Although one can't help but wonder why Strawberry has no parents and yet is responsible for taking care of a one year old baby sister. There are no adults in this fantasy world, but the "Berry" friends all seem to be very responsible living in Strawberry Land without them!

This is when we first meet Strawberry Shortcake and all ...
This is when we first meet Strawberry Shortcake and all her friends. Original movie not the computer animated ones. My daughter loves Strawberry Shortcake as much as I did when I was her age. She can't get enough of the characters. Cute movie.

SIMPLY THE BEST...
I was a huge fan of strawberry shortcake when I was a little girl and when I found out that she was coming back out I was just so excited. I bought the DVD for my god-daughter and she loves it. She knows all strawberry shortcakes friends and just adores her little sister apple dumplin and the cutest thing is that the DVD actually smells like strawberries. This was the best gift I have gotten her in a long time and I just love watching it with her and singing along to all the cute songs. I recommend this to any strawberry shortcake fan out there.
