I have been using their whole seeds and medium shopped seeds for about 4 years now. We have many different birds that come. One type is the Lesser Goldfinch. They are half the size of a house finch and with all the color. The first year we had six. The next year we had as many as thirty at a time. There have be at least two Hatches. We also have seen babies that looked pitiful, thrive on the chopped and then go to the whole seeds. WE have also seen little squirrels that didn't look like they would make it, have shinny coats and have come back as adults. We also have crowned sparrows, house and purple finches, eurasian doves, and this year a baby bunny who grew up and moved on as he got too big to get through the fence. So I doubt that there was any problem with the seeds. Thanks for asking. **Q: is there a difference between sunflower chips and sunflower kernels?** A: Yes, kernels are whole shelled seeds. Chips (sometimes marketed as hearts) are broken seeds. The birds don't care, but chips tend to introduce lots of dust into a feeder and require more frequent cleaning.
